In looking at 1993 results, I could not help but notice that 4 of the runners in the top 10 had the last name "Davis". Two girls and two boys. Not all related of course.
So basically if Gessner, Hirsh or Worley win FL, but not NXN (or wins both). The NXN champion will be the national champion.
Otherwise, we will be left in limbo...
Any other FL/NXN doublers have a chance at winning FL? I might be forgetting someone.

The Taye brothers did it in 2006 after going 1-2 in the Northeast regional.

From what I saw today, Worley or Hirsh have a very good chance of winning FL. Thus Clinger becomes the national champ.
Unless Affolder wins and then...

He actually opted out of NXN to focus on FL which I don't understand at all, given the obvious talent differences. And he did beat hirsch at Heartland but they finished together, without kicking.
Claudia Lane of Malibu would have won NXN today and she is at FL.
How amazing would have been if one brother of each pair won each race!

Footlocker was more fun to watch- much better course. Watching fast kids slog around in the mud is a big ole fail. Just watching Brown bomb down those hills was a blast.

National Champion is Reed Brown from Texas.
NXN does not crown an individual national champion, only a Team National Champion (Bozeman, MT).
Would love to see Clinger vs. Brown at the Foot Locker course.. has all the history.

What about the girls? Oakley clobbered Lane beginning of season, but Lane had some crazy wheels with a legit 10:00 girl on her tail.
Oakley destroyed Mareno and all others. I think Lane could have done better than most did at NXN, but not quite closed the gap that much. She is just coming into her own and not much training prior to HS days so we might be witnessing an all time great if she continues all this progression.
