Pretty certain the Delorme tracker does not need wifi. It is a satellite tracker, like the Spot beacon. They need wifi or cell signal to upload Strava data, so that will fall behind here. I confirmed with the crew via FB that they were taking a day off before posting, so this wasn't speculation based on no tracker movement.

Not sure what the point of your post is. This is about as desolate of a place as they will be in. If you thought I was suspecting cheating, it is the opposite. I meant that if they aren't going to cheat here, they aren't going to cheat anywhere. I never suspected they would anyway. Probably shouldn't have brought it up.

Nice, he is near Great Basin National Park. I hope some of my old co-workers say hi! Because there isn't much anything else going on out there.

It's gonna be easy for him once he is out of the Great Basin. High elevation climbs and downfalls thorugh mountain passes, one after another. The route shows that he is avoiding most of the big mountains in Colorado, opting for a northern route. After that, it looks like mostly smooth sailing on the flatlands. Pennsylvania could be rough, though, plenty of little ups and downs going across the state.

And holy sh!t, it seems he is going right through my hometown, literally a couple miles from my parents house. Maybe I will pay a visit.

OK, I'm almost hurting just thinking about this, but yeah, maybe a rest day every week or so is the way to go.

Seems unlikely. A low mileage day (say 20 of walking) is going to cut a day or two off versus taking 6 or so rest days.

Any word on the mileage today?

70.2 yesterday according to the DeLorme, which you can see for yourself at https://share.delorme.com/PeterKostelnick. He was off again around 3:30am today.

Now need to see if he can keep ripping off 70 mile days, and minimize the 0 days.

Just drove old priest road into Groveland in July. It was the bypass for the main road. If he's running up that...wow!

Nearly 31 miles complete today (20 Sep) and only a little after 9:00 a.m. local.

Frankly, it boggles my mind that he is even able to do that many miles in a day, let along day after day. Didn't know the human body was even capable of such things. The more you know.

Looks like another ~3:00 a.m. local time start...Utah only 15ish miles away now.

The dude it trucking. It will be interesting to see how he is progressing in a few days. Enjoy this period of flatness before the Rockies.

looks like some 8 and 9000' elevations up for tomorrow. Wonder how much he plans to cover in one day.
