RULE 40, is it BS?

Rule 40 needs to go.

No other sport has a rule like it. There are intellectual propert laws that preven the worst forms of guerilla marketing.

But in the NBA, PGA, etc, athletes and brands are not restricted from talking about their athletes.

At the World Cup, Nike can advertise Neymar even though adidas may be the official sponsor. Nike can't use Olympic marks.

This clearly diminishes the overall pool of money going to Olympic Sports otherwise other sports would try and emulate it. It MAY increase the money the USOC or IOC gets because everyone has to go through them, but shouldn't the point be to get more money total for all athletes? The IOC and USOC or non profits.

I guess sports like tae kwon do might suffer if all the advertising didn't have to come through the IOC but that stuff can be worked out.

Nike wrote the playbook on guerilla marketing during the LA Olympics and is making damn sure no company ever does the same thing to them.

Our athletes deserve to be able to use the best words. The crooked IOC - they let in Russians, Kenyans - dopers, age cheaters - and some I assume are good people. We're gonna build a wall against the IOC's overbearing interference. We're gonna make track and field great again!
