Sorry Coburn fans..but you cannot get away from the truth! The pics did NOT look good. I agree 100%. She looks much sexier running with those tight abs showing, nice butt, and gorgeous legs. I personally think she is VERY attractive ... but the pics in that magazine were terrible. It was a mistake!

But I can see why she did it. Modeling and endorsements is really the only way an runner can get famous and make money. The tennis players that are female make more money on endorsements than PLAYING tennis. She wanted the cash and the chance to get her name out there. It was her EGO that made her want to do the shoot.

Maybe her future kids can see them someday!! I know I can be such a jerk!

Did you see Ms. Coburn in front of the cameras after the race? She was interviewed with the two other Olympic team members. She was composed, gracious, polite and mature - she's been to a place like this before so perhaps not surprising. After her interview, she then went and made sure that her Quigley and Frierichs got their day in the sun in front of the cameras, even running over to Quigley to help compose her and get her in front of the cameras so she could present well.

Of course, I don't know Ms. Coburn personally, and frankly think some of the comments here are irresponsible (par for Lets Run), but if her conduct last night is any indication of the depth of her character, heck, she has a lot to bring to the table. Those small gestures matter a lot in terms of leadership (I know, I now direct a very large team with a number of managers at a global enterprise, and work like crazy at trying to make sure people are valued, even in small ways, and it is not all that easy), and I sure can't imagine having that kind of maturity when I was her age. Moreover, people generally tend to have this kind of awareness outside of themselves only by habit and practice, so it simply bespeaks well of her.

Kudos to her for shining so brightly in a moment where she didn't need to do so.

And some of those are elite distance runners.

My only hope is that the posters making the incredibly immature and sexist posts on the multiple threads over the body issue are truly just immature high schoolers.

One week we're complaining that athletes in our sport have limited options to market themselves and make money, the next week everybody is in a frenzy because one of our best athletes found a way that doesn't violate IOC rules?

And the body-shaming, grow up. Women are not pieces of meat, some of these comments are just disgusting. I have met and interviewed Emma, she is a very nice girl. We should be supporting our best athletes, not engaging in the same frat-boy rape culture dialogue that has invaded other mainstream sports.

Personally I was shocked upon seeing those photos that she would ever do such a thing. I don't have a clue why she did, but any remarks that followed were a result of that bad decision. On the good side, her image depended too much on her looks, and perhaps this will help her to get back to reality, i.e. it's who you are and what you do that matters, not only how you look, and looks are overrated.

Amen to that. Problem is in our sexist culture female athletes really only make money by looks. Anna kiornakova made more money off modeling than she did on tennis. It is Rediculous ...but it's the way women sports are. No female runner get rich simply by running. In fact many female athletes that are not that great get by on there endorsements and modeling. This was her way in. She played the game ..... Can you blame her?
