This was starting out to be such a good day and now it just became GREAT

On the bright side, at least now someone else can win a US 800 title. It was getting boring with Symmonds torching everyone year after year. Hopefully he comes back for another run at it against some of these young guys next year

Nick has had a lot of success and yet it appears many people on here are happy he is hurt. It is sad when one of america's top 800 meter runners can not make it to the start line and that is celebrated. You don't have to like the guy but you should have some respect for a guy who has made the 800 interesting for americans to watch for a long time now. Future looks bright for the up and coming 800 meter guys and I hope they can win some major world medals but success at the pro level is not a given.

I hope he pays back John Legere every penny. It's obvious he had no plans to compete at the trials, and no chance to make the team.

Legere is to classy (and uber wealthy) to care. And the sale was for "potential Olympian 2016."

USA was without a rep in an international 800 champs for 10 years before the dude broke through. --And his causes are actually legit.

I liked Symmonds a lot better as a runner than as a brand/advocate/gum salesman/whatever. I was so surprised and pumped when he won the US title last year and was very disappointed when he decided not to go to Beijing because of a weird and flimsy excuse.

When he's gone, I'm going to try to remember him as he was during his last truly great moment as a runner: arms out, crossing the line first at the 2015 US Champs, proving the doubters wrong (including me), and being a total badass.
