You fools still believe there was an iceberg? Look again at the passenger list and figure out who they wanted dead.

Who did the iceberg want dead?

Post of the year. Can you imagine if a boat went down now?
Oooooo! Good idea! Let's make a list of who would get on the life boats first and who goes last based on our current Politically Correct victims and villains culture.
Who wants to go first?
We all know straight white male American Christians would be last, but who would be first?

Some have said the reason why some of the lifeboats were not filled was because ONLY women and children were being allowed into the lifeboats and there wasn't a sufficient number of women and children available.
It was mainly first class and then second class passengers in lifeboats; third class passengers weren't allowed to come to the upper decks until it was far too late.
This, and the fact that it took a couple of hours after the ship sank before an officer finally brought a boat back was never really addressed in the inquiries, both in the US and England.
The British inquiry refused to accept that the ship broke in half before it sank, saying that the witnesses must have been confused. They also were the ones who gave rise to the myth that the iceberg tore a 300ft gash in the side of the ship, rather than buckling the plates of the hull over five watertight compartments - this was because they still couldn't get their heads around the idea that the indestructible Titanic could have sunk.
The floating debris idea may have saved more lives, but it wouldn't have been easy. The second officer, Charles Lightoller, ended up in the water when the ship went down, but was able to climb on top of an overturned collapsible lifeboat along with a group of other men. He described in a BBC interview in the 50s or 60s how they survived the cold night standing on this canvas hull, shifting their weight back and forth to ride out the waves even as the lifeboat slowly got lower in the water, and how the group got smaller and smaller as some ran out of strength and fell into the water. Among one of those who fell off during the night was the radio operator, MacBride, who shut up another ship who was broadcasting warnings about ice because he had to send out telegrams to the shore for the rich passengers, and who later sent the first SOS when Titanic started calling for help.

sorry wanted to write asians for accuracy, but mexicans is funnier

The real tragedy was that the engineer who designed the ship was on board and knew how long it would take to sink and that there weren't enough life boats for everyone. He knew there was a LOT of material on that boat that would float and would have been able to keep people out of the water until rescue boats came. He could have organized a 1,000 men to rip the boat apart with the instructions to get everything that would float and hold up one person into the water. In two hours there would have been thousands of makeshift lifeboats all over the water.
If there is a Hell, when I get there I'm going to find this piece of shiite and ask him what the fack he was thinking.
The jibberings of a crazy person.

Rojo you should be utterly ashamed of yourself for even responding to this ignorant piece of garbage, but you've shown yourself to be no better than this j@ck@ss. Condoning someone who would cheapen a very real and very necessary debate today puts you at their level, it makes you a bigot, period. Their argument mocks something that affects some people in a very real way, and it is no different from white people mocking racism. You should be very proud.

How can anyone be a liar if everyone is forced to accept whatever they say to avoid offending people? The whole concept of truth and reality is gone.
If I say I'm a woman everyone MUST accept that as reality or they are a bigot and will be punished accordingly. If I say I'm 17, or black, or qualified to do brain surgery, then everyone has to honor my feewings or else.
Essentially every person becomes their own roaming island of alternate reality where there truth is determined by that person's mood on any given day. This is the concept of cultural relativism concept brought all the way down to the individual level.

Of course, they were BRITISH troops which accounted for their superior moral fibre.

Simple - this is based on your posts throughout these boards.
You lie.
Constantly.
It has nothing to do with you wanting to identify as black. It has everything to do with your constant lying.

ZING!!!
You're mostly right but not completely right. You emphasize BRITISH. I would emphasize TROOPS. A military vessel will obviously have a more disciplined crew than a private vessel, at least in those days, so yours is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. Also, the Birkenhead sank very close to land, only about 2 miles offshore, so there was a reasonable chance for survival if you were a decent swimmer, which was apparent to those on board. The Arctic sank 65 miles from shore in a heavy fog; you had (almost) no chance if you didn't get into a boat and everyone on board knew it, so the panic was likely greater.
Still, your basic point is true. The British crew behaved much more chivalrously than the American crew. In this case, Britain 1, USA 0.
As a side note, DiscoGary's raft theory was tried on the Arctic. Everyone on board the raft eventually died except for one person, who later claimed he was "10 minutes from death.". It's a sample size of one, but it does seem to show that Guggenheim's armoire and some torn-up deck planking wasn't going to save Jack Dawson and his ilk. Maybe that's why Andrews didn't bother with a raft.

it may well have been that the folks in the lifeboats were terrified of the thought of getting too close to the folks in the water for fear of being swamped. Once you get within reach how do you manage to bring aboard a half dozen (which you can fit) while keeping another hundred at bay?
A few people almost frozen and drowning are not going to swamp a large lifeboat.
In fact they would need considerable help to get in.
