I agree. Thank goodness that you guys just proved that you both were wrong.

Here's where you said Dibaba could "do 1600 in 4:00".

OMG you are an idiot. What's the difference, she;s never done either. Please just stop. You just keep digging that hole so why not fall in already and shut up.

If you say she could do and she can't then I believe that would be considered either lying or being woefully misinformed. Either way maybe you should just stay off these boards until you do get your facts straight.
Your belief is wrong. There are other possibilities than te two you have listed.
My facts are straight. You guys just have trouble reading. There is no fact that "she can't" so maybe you should get your facts straight.
SHE CAN'T DO EITHER. YOU IMPLIED She could run 4 in 1600m and that is a false assertion. She can't run 4 or sub 4 and that is why she runs the 1500m and as far as her professional career, she has never ran the 1600m or the mile. So the fact remains she did that particular workout trying to get sub 4 in the 1500m. She did and even lowered it to get a world record in the 1500m. But she can not run 4 or sub four in either the 1600m or the mile. DO YOU GET IT NOW!

Jesus, and you are saying I could have broken four in the mile with a 3:50? Wow, I barely did it with a 3:42.89. So can you coach me? Or just go back to the insane asylum you escaped from.
Nope, I did not say you could have broken four in the mile with a 3:50. I said Dibaba can run 1600 in 4:00 and likely break the mile world record. Even if I did say that, why would you want me to coach you? What does coaching have to do with any of this?
I'm really worried about the level of reading comprehension here.
PLEASE EVERYONE IGNORE THIS GUY. HE HAS TO BE A TROLL OR JUST A COMPLETE LUNATIC. READ OVER THIS THREAD AGAIN AND SEE FOR YOURSELVES. STOP GIVING HIM ATTENTION

Just because I'm not agreeing with you doesn't mean I'm an idiot.
Whats the difference? The difference is basic English. "Has" means someone has done it and requires them to have done it. "Can" means someone can do it but does not require that they have done it.
I said "can" not "has". With your logic, just because she has never run a 4:25 mile means that she can't.

False. I did not imply that. I clearly and explicitly said it.
I did not say she runs the 1600 or the mile. I also did not say she can run sub four in the mile or the 1600.
Why do you guys keep accusing me of saying things I did not say?

It has nothing to do with being an elite. It has to do with fitness. Dibaba can do that workout because she can run 1600 in 4:00 not 1500.
THAT IS WHERE YOU SAID IT!
What a clusterf*ck of a thread...
9/10
This thread is hilarious.

You did say that she can "do 1600 in 4:00." This simply is not true. She cannot, nor will she ever "do 1600 in 4:00."

Finally, you admit you were wrong. She cannot based on what? Why is it simply?

Nope, try again.

She has run 3:50 in the 1500. She turns 25 in a couple of months. To think that she will drop 8+ seconds (4-min 1600 equivalent) off of her best effort is ludicrous.

That's not ludicrous. People have made big jumps before at older ages. It also wasn't her best effort. Summary: your entire post is wrong.

Source?
Wow, a whole lot of twisting of facts going on on both sides!
First of all, the original poster said 4:00 1500 shape ... Dibaba is in WAY better shape than that (and whenever she did this workout, she was clearly in way better shape than 4:00 - I don't care what her PR was at the time).
Second, she is most likely not in 4:00 1600 shape. But she is in much closer to 4:00 1600 shape than 1500 shape. 4:00 1600 (NOT mile) is around 3:43.5 for a 1500. So about 6.5 seconds faster than she ran.
Third, she probably ran that workout with men/pacers who could keep up. How fast could she race a 1500 with a pack of men going faster, with even splits all the way? Maybe 3:48 (at worst)?
That workout (6x800 in 2:01 average) is still crazy for a 3:48 1500 runner, but 3:48 is WORLDS apart from 4:00. So the original premise is false and misleading.
