But you gotta admit that 2:11 is pretty good for a debut marathon in a not so competitive field. Plus, I have to give him props since he's a West Point grad.
MxPx,Again, I by no means was putting down Dan. And I think 2:11 is still very good (15 minutes better than me).Also, it was his first attempt and when you win noone may know how fast you could have run under different circumstances. So, like I said, I think he will run well under 2:10 in the future.

Eamon martin and Paul davies Hale have run sub 4.oo, Martin has run 2.10/2.11 and davies Hale ran 2.11 in Carpi. I think John Solly has probably broken 4 aswell and he has run 2.11. You also have Alistair hutton who hs broken 4 and has run 2.10.

Neither Geoff Smith, Alistair Hutton or Jon Solly have run sub-4.
The original post refered to sub-4 and a 'great' marathon. Paul Davies-Hale ran 3:56:5 and 2:11:25. A million times better than me but in the scheme of things is that a 'great' marathon?

Martin comes close to being called a 'great' marathon runner on account of his London win - I'm sure he could have run quicker that day, but he only did what was needed to win. It's a shame he never posted a sub-2:10.

When I looked at the list I thought he might be on it but I obviously missed him. I don't think I've missed any others but you're right, 3.55.8 & 2.09.08 is very, very impressive. He won Boston didn't he? I think it was the same year that Spedding won in London so he didn't get the recognition he deserved.
