Jenna Prandini Will Forego Eligibility at Oregon, Turns Professional.... w Puma?

In my experience their footwear is still garbage, but they have a disjointed marketing strategy to go with it. Hire some sprinters, throw them in some ads, sling some lousy shoes.

That being said, any money into the sport is good news.

They let the North American marketing die at some point in the late 80's and stuck to their base continental Europe. They also dropped cross trainers and shoes for weekend warriors and only made soccer cleats and track spikes. They made a tentative foray into sponsorship in the early 2000's with Bolt and signed him on the cheap as a junior for about 10K a year (not a terrible as it sounds as 10K can go far in Jamaica).

Talked to my buddy that works for an agency and she is getting total of 5 years, $2M USD with a base of $400,000 per year. She has the standard $25K Gold, $15K Silver, $10K Bronze along with $100,000 for WR over 100m or 200m.

Don't forget she's a pretty good long jumper...

Those World Records 10.49 for 100 and 21.34 should be worth more than 100k,

Even medals are hard remember this year was a watered down 200, Alyson Felix, Shelly Ann Fraser did not contest the 200 this year, Blessing Okagbare pulled out after being injured in the 100, Prandini is young so she will be around after Felix and Fraser Price retire, but there are lots of top sprinters coming up.

absolutely a mistake not to compete in Europe after USA's, and hence, not race sharp before World's. With her times, she can make many US teams, but there are at least two major stars just a few years away from a potential long dominance of US female sprinting, and there will always be quite a few others capable of running 10.8-11.0 and low 22 in the U.S. Any one of them could be in or out depending on the day. Just look at Jasmine Todd and English Gardner, two other Oregon sprinters with fine credentials.

I am surprised she has that much value, I can imagine there are a lot of pissed off Nike sprinters right now.

Felix, 11.01 / 21.81

Prandini, 10.92 / 22.20

That is a really-really bad comparison; Félix had several Olympic and WC medals by the time she was Jenna's age. And, btw Félix's 21.81 is among the fastest times in history and is equal to about a 10.77 100m in terms of quality.

Good luck to her, I think that her result in the 200m at Worlds will help the hype die down, it's better for her.

But honestly, I wouldn't be surprised with either outcome at next year trials.

She could win all her events or not making the team at all
