Caitlyn Jenner Says Bruce Ran 70 Mile Weeks

I read his book several times as a kid. Granted that's a while ago, but 70mpw was probably peak.

My ears perked up when she said that too. We runners are weird.

I remember reading an interview with Bruce back in the 70's in which he claimed to be running 70 mpw. So if it's a fable, it's not a new one. He claimed to run with his dog--I think her name was Bertha

I don't know anything about what people say now but back in the mid 70's I often trained on the same track with Jenner. He told me that he often ran 60 mile weeks. That was the number. Not 70 or 17 ;-).

I'm sure he varied miles like we all did. I ran anywhere from 55-75.

Back in the 60's, the San Jose State Sprinters like Tommie Smith and Lee Evans built up to 10 milers over 4 weeks in the fall. But it was only 4 weeks. Jenner's 70 mile weeks could have been like that.

That's 70 female miles, which converts to roughly 26 male miles.

Yes, and Tom Cruise said he ran a 4:10 mile, others say they ran incredible times that can't be verified.... blah blah. Hell, my 280 lb. 5'9" fat as-hell brother in law claims he can do 50 push ups and hit an 85 mph curveball 400 ft. Yet he can't walk up stairs without stopping.

All these claims, like Jenner's 70 mile weeks are just that, claims. Yes, Jenner was the world class athlete, but I would venture to guess he ran one week around 70 miles. One.

He will be a physical mess if he does. His hormones will be more out whack than a normal 70ish man. I saw a doc on a guy who did the same thing as Jenner at the same age and he had health problems due to taking estrogen and had to go back to being a man at 75. It's hard to play god with your body when our knowledge of the human body is that of a child(compared to a god).

That's because of menopause which these dudes forgot about. All your God references are BS though.

I don't believe in god but I know the modern scientists know nothing compared to any god like entity. Otherwise cancer would be solved, the human life span would be significantly longer, etc,etc.

I'm not following the Bruce/Caitlyn conversation in great detail, but what happens if Caitlyn decides to compete in the Senior Olympics?

Well, most weeks I plan to run 10 miles a day, Mon-Sat. Probably it's more like 8 a day, and I usually miss a run, but once in a while I actually did this. And my long run is usually about two hours, but once training for a marathon I did a 23-miler. So, yeah, you could say I do over 80 miles per week.
