6'1" and 119 lbs at 2.8%???? You must look like walking death or need to have your scale recalibrated. I'm 6'2" and weight 145 lbs with a body fat of ~3%, and I look like a hairy assed toothpick.

Not that these threads thrive on it, but for all those of you out there spouting off your % body fat stats, quick reality check. Skin calipers have a typical error of 3-5% and that's only with a really well-trained and experienced person doing them. Underwater weighing is only slightly better. Bioelectrical impedence is far more variable and depends on your hydration. And those of you bragging about being around or under 3%, you should be dead if that's actually right b/c for guys, the body can't survive without at least 3% body fat and for girls, it's closer to 10%. Honestly, as runners worry more about your training, your diet, and your sleep than these stupid stats!

Yeah, I had to lose a lot of weight for a role I took on for a recent film. I am normally heavier. I know I am right, I had doctors surrounding me constantly during the filming. They would give me all different kinds of fat% tests. Obviously I cannot stay this thin forever. I will gain the weight back... Maybe... I like weighing 119, I feel light and feathery. I can run fast too, I feel like I am walking on air.
Reality makes a good point.
Males have 3% of essential body fat. This is the body fat that is necessary to live, for your organs and such.
Girls essential body fat is 12%. So for that chick that said she was 5%, yeah right.
There is a margin of error with calipers, hydrostatic weighing, and especially with bioelectrical impedence.
I'm 5'7 135 and will smoke any of you guys any day of the week. Eat a burger.
that being said, i'm always curious about people eating regimes, whats a typical day look like food wise for you guys?
BS for 3% of body fat for males to survive... Have you ever seen a bodybuilder just before podium show? 1%BF for most of them.
My gf is 5'4" and 104# and was measured by 3 different techniques at 7-8%BF. She is healthy, never had any problems. That much for the 10% rule.
As for myself, 5'7", 112-114#, 5-6%BF, but have been around 2-3% and wasn't feeling good, so I strated to stuff myself more.

I consider myself big for a runner. My smaller running mates have suggested the gastric bypass surgery. What do you think? I'd like to be 130, but I'll have to lose some muscle.

5'9" 144lbs, 6.8% body fat with hydrostatic weighing about half a year ago, up 5lbs since then though.
You big guys always have good terms (men of stature), but as a coach once said, "Don't piss off the field guys. If you're ever in a fight, you want them coming in on your side." On the old, fat, pencil neck side, my data is - 152 lbs., 5'11" about 18%.
