Lauren Fleshman won a DL 5000 at the end of a season back in 2012 or 2013. Closed in 2:40 her final K. 15:15 or so FTW.

On this note he was also such a stand up guy when signing autographs afterwords. He was leaving the warmup area, jogging his way to his car with a medal around his neck and some little kid ran up to him and he immediately stopped and signed a program for him even though he could have easily just kept on moving. Stand up guy and definitely who I am rooting for come Nationals.

Lauren won it in 2011, just before worlds, in 15 flat. Here's the LRC article that the staff seem to have forgotten:

Ben True was always going to be very good.

He had good enough wheels evidenced by his 3:40 years ago.Certainly could run faster now in some set up somewhere.

Enormous engine, developed from XC skiing

Once he got land running up to appropriate mileage anyone could see success coming.

Looks very lean , very fit, and very good out kicking Nick Willis who has always done great work under Ron Warhurst.

As exciting to some how good Centro's 1:44.x was today , Nick out kicking Africans, would look just about the same in handicapping World guys.

You're right and it's all a part of educating Americans- a great race is a great race no matter what the time.
