At our races here in South Africa, we actually pee wherever we want to. Just pull up on the side of the road, turn your back to the other runners, and there you go. Nobody gives you a second look. In the first few k's of the race, it's not unusual to see a row of guys lining up next to each facing a wall for a few seconds
You'll even see some of the ladies go down on a bended knee and just shift a part of their shorts with one of their hands
You rarely have to unless you consume huge amounts of water before the race. Your body will absorb the fluids you consume during the race.
Another factor is that your "bladder system" (for the lack of a better word) shuts down during a game.
Do you ever see a soccer player have to leave the field to pee during the game? Never happens.
Just squat down and pull it aside on the starting line like a boss!

This used to be common in the states but I think the influx of the soccer mom hobby joggers has killed it.
These are the same people that think snot rockets are gross and people shouldn't do it.
male. I wear split shorts, makes it easier to slip willie out. Take a water at the aid station, take a sip, pour out the rest. Drain the vein into the cup held inside the shorts, ease to the side of the road and drop the cup and contents to the curb. You should be able to do this at 6:00 m/m pace

Don't wait too late to get to the race, barely make it to the starting corral, and miss out on the portapots before the race.
I ran 1:39:02 for the 2018 Cbus Half and I lost 30-45 seconds, maybe even longer, with a quick bathroom stop at mile 2.
A year later I ran 3:24 for the 2019 Cbus Full but didn't have to stop at the bathroom once. The key is also to get #2 done before you run as well.
