Trying to get the mileage up and build some base for the Spring.
Well, it's been a long season (with performances all over the chart), but I can't tell you how excited I am about this year's Club Nationals.
And not just because of the race (though it should be a good one!). But because after a few years of masters competition, I've met so many great people from around the country who will soon be congregating in Portland!
My club's (Team Runners High) plan is to have our first beer by the time we exit the finish chute, but after that we're game for anything (well, first we've got a quick beer challenge with some of the Bowerman and Club Northwest gentlemen, maybe a few strays from the So Cal Track Club), but by early evening we'll be ready to hook up for a grand old time. With the Aggies in town, any plans will surely have to take their whereabouts into consideration. And we shouldn't neglect the young folk either, who by the looks of some of the threads on this message board, certainly need some "mature" guidance ... um, better leave that to the rest of y'all.
All right, I'll cross my fingers that we all stay healthy. And for those of you coming to Portland, I'll see you in less than two weeks!
jersey guy/DFitz:
If I had run sub 2:40 on 55mpw, I might have been tempted to try and run a marathon on 40 mpw next time-- or, maybe even 30 mpw. Unfortuantely, I wasn't able to learn the wrong lessons from my mnarathon experience.
I hear the Aggies are coming, but the real question is: is Carmelo coming. That guy knows how to have a good time.
I heard the British are coming :O)

Philly marathon, six weeks after Chicago wall collapse:
3:06 with 1:34 first half - The six week betweens marathons made me timid until mile 17. Did anyone else find the course to have more hills than advertised? Felt great at the end, thinking now about doing Rotterdam while I am still young enough to get a seeded number. I hear the start is narrow and crowded otherwise.
