Because doing one fast race doesn't mean you are able to be one of the best. He's done two of the best times in recent years. Whether or not he has pacers, he still had to run 26:44 and 26:48.
And as for the top 5k and Marathon guys not trying the 10k, that'd be like saying Usain Bolt is the fastest 800m if he just gave it a honest attempt. That's crap. It's speculation. Whether or not one of those 5k or marathon guys could be faster is out of the question. They just aren't faster. They haven't ran a faster time(s) more consistent than Galen has. They possibly could, but they HAVEN'T. Speculation makes for a piss poor analyzation.
Your first paragraph makes no sense. I said that Rupp had a perfectly paced 26:44. No one else had that opportunity. How about you compare everyone's fastest nonpaced 10k times. That would be more fair.
Your second paragraph makes even less sense. The 10k is an adjacent event to the 5k and half marathon. The primary energy systems are the same. The training is close to the same. Usain Bolt trains for the 100m. The 800m is neither an adjacent event nor is the training close to the same as that of the 100m.
It's not speculation. It's not crap. Your analysis is crap and is unfairly biased in Rupp's favor. If you can run a 12:4x 5000m, you can run a sub 27 10000m.
