Why do people still choose iPhones over Android phones?

How are Apple products better? They are great if you want to appear trendy, have a more simple phone and get one of those cool stickers. But as far as hardware goes, they are not cutting edge and are a couple of years behind the top phones.

It's the same deal with laptops...you can get a laptop twice as good for half the price of a mac.

If you really cared about how your phone worked and security, you would buy an android type phone which allows you to remove the battery i.e. not Nexus, and root it. 99.5% of smartphone users will never do this, so this is really a moot point.

I find Amazon music to be more than adequate. They are aware of my consumption habits, but I always use a VPN on my computer and phone, so they at least do not know where I am, etc.

We better hope the Chinese government never makes a $1trn bid for GOOG. All of our safety would be at stake were that to occur.

I've always thought Apple ran it's environment similar to how China controls it's people. I don't deny they make good products, but you are trading your shiny "things" which blind you from what is really going on.

Do you really like being told what apps or music you can or can't have on your iphone or what is force-fed to you. How much do you really like U2? You think that will be the last time something like that happens?

If you look at becnhmarking numbers including performance, failure rates etc Apple products are very ordinary.

They are marketed very well. That is it. If you paid $3k for a notebook, you would have a top of the line lightning fast machine. That is an entry level price for a Mac. Same for iPhones vs others.

First off, that's not me, and I work as a developer full time and our app has about 75% iOS users and 25% Android users. It really doesn't matter to me if you buy an iPhone or an Android, I currently own an Android device. If a better iPhone comes out then maybe I will switch back.

The entry level price for a Mac notebook is not $3k.

iPhones are fine, but like all Apple products, WAY overpriced.

iTunes however, is not fine. It is the biggest garbage piece of software for Windows ever written. I see malware that treats my files and computer better than iTunes!

And you fools that continue to buy iPhones because "all my music is in iTunes" are idiots. Some people are smart enough to buy/keep their files in non-DRM, non-proprietary, convertible formats so they aren't walled into using a particular product. You are not one of those people.

Some will scoff, but let's not forget about Windows Phone. Even though market share is very though, I still think it has a good shot to dominate the market in a couple of years. Quality phones, lean/fast/secure semi-open OS, killer cameras (Lumia 1020, a year old, crushes iPhone 6 camera), low price, superior integration with Office/corporate products that everyone uses i.e. Excel, exchange, outlook). Watch out. If MS gets it's s*** together, they might have the killer phone for 2015 and beyond. I don't think it will be long before we see a Phone that can run FULL windows (Windows 10?)

So people choose iPhones because they are lazy? It seems like you would do your research when buying something expensive that your going to use everyday for the next 2 years. Switching from iTunes to Google Music was very easy for me but I can see how it would be a pain point for some people.

We use remote controls instead of walking up to the TV to change channels

I kind of like that Google writes complete choices as I type so I don't have to finish typing

But to your question, simple is better than complex.

A lot of people are very particular about what they like. I had an iphone 4 for 2 years and went back to Blackberry because I like them better and can not stand the touchscreen.
