Flotrack IS most likely making money. Surely Flocasts is.

For a few of the bigger meets in April, the video viewership reached 10k+ while still restricted to only paying customers. If you assume that most of the subscribers had gotten around to watching those videos, we can peg the 10k viewers as 50-80% of the user base.

So @ 50% user base, Flotrack has 20k subscribers.

At 80%, Flotrack has 12,000 subscribers.

Dropping in $15 a month, you get a range of revenue of 180k - 300k 6 months ago. They do have consistent growth, especially during the domestic season, but I'd imagine slower subscriber growth from June to September because there are no draws other than their originals.

Flotrack doesn't show how many live viewers it has.

The most live viewers I've seen for a free track meet on the net is 5000. USATF.TV had some big meets free this year and they got 2000 live viewers. Start charging and the numbers will go down.

The market is people paying to watch their relatives run.

If you are counting Flotrack's own "view" count for anything especially live videos I think that is a mistake. Flotrack has a video linked to on the homepage. You click through to it. It then says, "subscriber only". The view count goes up. You are not a subscriber and you did not watch the video. The view count could go up by 2 for all that we know. It's an internal number.

Who said anything about LIVE viewers? "Video viewership" is not a live stream. Lastly, this doesn't include video advertising revenue. Flotrack has a standard 30 second commercial that runs ahead of each video.

one more thing, I'd say Flotrack has a few business lines that make it favorable in comparison to Letsrun from a profitability perspective.

LR has a larger audience but from what I can tell, terrible ad conversion/placement, and probably a so-so revenue (but good for a small operation).

LR could probably increase revenue 3-4x by doing direct negotiations with running advertisers-- right now, I'm getting Google AdChoices. Lastly, some sort of affiliate program. Since LR already has the traffic, they could monetize by having discount shoes etc - items that runners need.

With the $8M expansion into social media, Flotrack will easily will has a $100 Billion valuation by Rio 2016. Just look at how social media has usurped Ukraine, Crimea, Syria. Iraq, Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia. Flotrack is in the process of destroying NBC, EPSN, and Fox Sports. By the end of 2016, Flotrack grass roots HD 8000 coverage on IPTV will dominate sports broadcasting worldwide.

Guess that means they are unprofitable?

FT is the leader of a new and exciting era in sports broadcasting. Pro leagues want fans to create virtual fan clubs with family and friends streaming live video from the stands and spraying 50MB imagey from their iPhones.
