Why can't USA compete in Commonwealth Games?

Yes, it was good that the USA finally showed up in WW1 and WW2. Too bad that it took until 1917(not 1914), and late 1941(not 1939). Meanwhile, your best friends and neighbours, who share your values of freedom and democracy, were being wounded and killed in the hundreds of thousands, while hoping you would leave the sidelines and get involved.

Militaries the world over use French words by default - regiment, battalion, sergeant, assault, all thanks to L'Empereur.

The British once tried for a hundred years to defeat the French in war, and failed. The Germans defeated France in about a month.

However today, Wall Street and London have merged, so really the US should be at the commonwealth games by now.

Interestingly the US is back to square 1.

Cromwell and his Amsterdam London financial deal with the devil at America's beginnings..... and now New Amsterdam (NY) merging with London of today.

An aside, is that independent's like Oliver Cromwell always succumb to their fiancees counterparts, aka Julius Caesar, that is as soon as their power threatens a lot they are taken out, plain and simple.

As I pointed out earlier, an equivalent American Empire Games would see Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Libya, Panama and some others, (what was that country that Clint Eastwood and his marines conquered - Grenada?) competing with each other.

The USA *do* attend the Commonwealth Games - Im amazed people dont know this - they do the sandwiches and tea between the sports. They only just missed out on a bronze but dropped a bacon roll.

Um, PA, VA, MA, and KY are all "commonwealth" states, but that has no legal bearing on their status as states, not nations.

And it's the Commonwealth Games for the "Commonwealth of Nations."

Mozambique and Rwanda are members, former Portuguese and Belgian colonies, applied for membership because of their proximity and ties to Commonwealth countries. The bulk of their trade is with these countries and they even switched to driving on the left side of the road. Mozambique remains a Portuguese-speaking country but Rwanda, after the genocide and alleged complicity of the French, have shed all things Francophone and made English an official language.

The USA have a standing invitation to attend the Commonwealth Games, but they choose to decline. Not because they are too good, they don't like to be involved in anything where they are not 'in control' .. ie. F1 etc etc
