When you talk about Manzano you mention things like, top 3 at USATF 8 years in a row.

I will note that a healthy Wheating did not run this event in 2010.

He was coming off of an NCAA double, skipped USATF and ran a 3:51 mile at Pre before heading to Europe and running his 3:30.90.

He still does not have a USATF title to his name.

Interesting that Mac Fleet apparently isn't running [scratched both the 800m and the 1500m.] Minor injury? Heading to Europe? Other?

Fleet isn't elite enough for Europe, he was only good enough to get into those Canadian races last year which is where both of his PR's are from...

He might get into DL Huesdan and that's if he can pull stings, but that's about it, and I think it's coming up very soon...

I think Rupp and Lagat ran it just because at the end of the day they are Americans, its US Nationals, therefore they should run it. Some money in it for them probably doesn't hurt either.

Do you really not understand how contradictory these two paragraphs are? Or that for a lot of people, a shot at "merely" winning a national championship is, or should be, motivation enough? That the USA Champs IS a major championship?

Sounds like the old "in-house A-sample" came back positive this week.

Like the saying goes, failing a doping control is just failing an IQ test. And uncle Nike isn't dumb enough to let "A-sample" out of the cage when the lab results look crooked.

There is no DL Huesdan.

Any real info on why Ben True isn't competing? There's no distance event at the next DL other than Steeple, so am concerned he's injured.

So Centro not running USATF means he won't be at the Continental Cup.

Hopefully the good Manzano shows up.

This may be a Manzano kind of race.

Point is, some were defending Centro for skipping Nationals.

Saying it was good to skip it and focus on Europe.

Well, Manzano got the US title, which is nice to have.

Beat Centro the few times they met and ran a faster time on the year.

Plus he gets to run this race which has a little prestige and some money on the line.

Can't see anything that Centro may have gained by skipping USATF.

At least he got a PR this year and will build on it next year.
