I just want to say that I do not mean any disrespect to Glenda Reiser.

I kind of feel bad brining up this topic. Because Glenda Reiser passed away in 2008 and she should be honored.

She became a physician and helped a lot of women with her medical practice.

I hope my comments are not taken as being disrespectful. But I know some may consider them to be.

There was really nothing wrong that she did. She was a teenager, she competed in track, ran fast times and set records.

She was born the way she was, externally a female, internally male. This gave her very high testosterone levels and that is why her times were so fast.

Later when she had medical tests done and discovered that she was a hermaphrodite, she quit the sport and never returned.

Because she had no internal female organs, she was not able to have children. She also never got married.

I think it is important to mention this story. Also it brings up the debate of wether her records should be allowed. Because forty years later, nobody has broken them. Of course, because she was physiologically a teenage boy. Not a teenage girl.

The times and results of Glenda Reiser should be removed and not be allowed, as of the time the condition was discovered.

The difference with Caster Semenya is that he continues to compete after knowing, which is a travesty, and especially unfair to the women he's competing against.

He needs to be banned from women's competitions immediately, and his prior results removed. If he wants to continue to compete, that is fine, as a man but not as a woman.

When Caster Semenya was making all the rage and controversy, before she took hormone therapy, acquiesced and faded in performance and discourse, there was plenty of commentary about her "manliness," both joking and serious. In the fall of 2012 I had to take a class called Women's & Gender Studies at university (it was required regardless of major).

This was of course shortly after the olympic games in London, and this is when the mainstream people learned about Semenya.

My ultra liberal feminazi professor used this as an example to show how the idea of "male" and "female" was just societal programming.

She also stated at various times how she believed women were not physically weaker than men, and how white people cannot be the victims of racism.

Worst class ever. The amount of liberal brainwashing that goes on at universities is scary. Luckily I just got my class credit and got the fvck out of there!

What happens if there is a gender change to the point that the men is a women except for the internal organs, are they allowed to compete? At the rate that we are going, there are going to be a lot of transgender lawsuits for the right to participate.

I feel bad bringing up the topic, because it is kind of a 'secret' here in Canada. Nobody likes to talk about it.

So I really hope I don't get into any trouble for mentioning her story.

Both Semenya and Reiser were born female.

Meaning, they have external female organs. At birth the doctor saw a vagina and told the parents 'it's a girl'.

I again, want to state, I am trying to discuss this while remaining respectful.

Later, when the girls grew up, they found that they were significantly better than other girls their age in sports.

Another thing that happens, is, because they had no internal female organs, they don't get a period (don't menstruate).

The average age for menarche (first time a girl gets a period) is between 10 and 16.

I don't know Semenya's story. But Reiser went to see a doctor when she was in her late teens (18 or 19). Because she had not had a period yet.

The doctor did a pelvic ultrasound (the basic test to check for an etiology) and found that she had no uterus. What she did have was internal male organs - testes.

These testes secrete testosterone that is three times that of an regular female teenager.

Reiser, then decided to quit the sport and disappeared from track and field at the age of 19.

Semenya's story is different because even though she is also a hermaphrodite, she continues to complete and win medals and set records etc.

This is the key difference between Semenya and Reiser.

I want to pay tribute to Reiser, because in my opinion, she did nothing wrong. She was a teenager, she competes in sports, was extremely good at them, ran track, set records. All this, while not knowing of her medical condition.

Once she discovered she was a hermaphrodite, she did the moral and ethical thing and left the sport.

Semenya? Not the same. She knows of her medical condition, as all the tests have been done on her. But yet she refuses to walk away from the sport.

This is the key difference.

What is the IAAF rule? I'm sure SA had to give their results to the IAAF.

Why should she walk away from the sport? She's not breaking any rules.

LOL at a "secret here in Canada," as if a country of 30 million just keeps a secret that no one else knows. Her story is not unknown outside Canada.
