Its a below average draft on QB's , great college athletes but not up to what the NFL is looking for in size and arm strength.

I'd say Young got about an 1/8 of the attention ESPN has given and will give Manziel.

Consider that Young accomplished a good deal too.

What's Manziel done so far? Two years of gaudy numbers and a Heisman.

Being white has absolutely added to his celebrity.

Look at the hype black QB's in college and the NFL have gotten since say, the late 1980's. Hype and more far, far beyond their abilities or accomplishments. The most impressive slide ever was Jason White, QB, Oklahoma. He was not drafted at all. He also did not get a tryout from any NFL team.

Jason White was the 2003 Heisman winner, on the 2004 BCS Champs (for 2003), and the on the 2005 BCS Runner up (for 2004).

Can't think of one that's getting the ESPN stroke job Manziel's getting. And base that on his accomplishments.

His style of play, his off field behavior and, yes the fact that he's white, make him extremely marketable.

And that's what the NFL is. A marketing tool. An ingenious one. Maybe the greatest one ever invented.

ESPN has become the media arm of the NFL. Of course they want this guy to remain highly relevant.

It was the same with Tebow. Doug Gottlieb was told while he was at ESPN, that he couldn't talk about Tebow enough. And before that it was Favre.

Not for the Browns and is there even ONE of those guys you would want as the starting QB for a team you support?

Manzeil(sp?)doesn't have the skill set and physical traits that correlate to a great NFL player. So, those that support the Browns or like the guy as an individual ASSUME that he is a rare exception like Brees or Flute. They WANT him to succeed so bad that they see things in him that others don't and in many cases just isn't there. The odds are stacked greatly against him, but others have overcame, just not in Cleveland.

Are you agreeing with me or what? If you are not, I don't think that list is exactly the evidence you'd want to point to to buck up your position.

Romo hasn't delivered in a big time game but he does have a career QB rating of 95 and just signed a six year contract extension last year, so that is the reasoning, or maybe Jerry just doesn't want a guy with a big personality and a huge Texas fan base to compete with himself.

With pro qb's it is very hard to tell in advance for NFL GM's and scouts who will be successful and in what program. He definitely has his work cut out for him in Cleveland and he went pretty far back for someone with his single-handed performances, but he is small, not particularly fast (but extremely maneuverable, a gamer, a guy who lifts his entire team, a winner), and was questionable in his off the field activities (this might have been a problem only for him in college with NCAA regulations, but we'll see). But being drafted in the first round doesn't say much about a quarterback. The # of busts drafted in the top five is very high. Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Vince Young (?), and on and on. And conversely, there have been many stars drafted outside the first round. Tom Brady was drafted in the sixth round, I think, and there have been numerous other late rounders who became stars.

The Hoyer with 1 TD and 5 picks over the last few games? He is on the bench where he would be at any other franchise in the nfl minus maybe the Texans.

Anybody who judges a rookie qb after one game against a pretty good defense is an idiot. Not saying Manziel will be great, but there is no way anyone can know anything after one game. And that isn't just me speaking, it is every NFL expert on earth.
