I agree that he seems like the odds on favorite, but I think it depends what kind of race this is. If it is slow until the final 400, I think he's at a disadvantage. If it is a quick pace from the start, I think he takes it.
Either way, I think it will be an entertaining race.

At least 13:25, maybe faster.
Conditions will be excellent for a good time tonight. Last night by 7 PM the wind had died down and the high schoolers ran great 3K times. The Hayward Field fans will be out in force and will give Cheserek a boost. Centro will not run the full 5K and Puskedra will be running it as a speed workout for his longer races. Cam Levins may well run with Cheserek for all but the final lap. This should be one of the best early season races of the year. People ask why Dunbar ran at Mt Sac when he could have been in this race?--It's all about the Oregon mantra to place their athletes in situations that maximize their potential for success. I'd say that mantra has been working pretty well.

First of all, shut it assduck.
Dunbar running 1332 without doing the pacing for Cheserek should tell u something. Ches. will prob run well below that if the pace is right. German ran 13:25 a few years as a freshman 2 mo later in the season. One poster prob had it right with Luke doing the pacing for 3k ish with centro. Then it will be up to the rest the last mile. Cheserek's 5k is very deceiving and everyone knows he can go under 1330, but I still think it comes down to him and Levins the last 600.
Predictions:
Puskedra - 2800-3k pacer
Centro- Will finish but battle for 3rd
Jenkins- Hangs till 1k
Cheserek- 2nd but close.
Levins- Drops a sub 55 last lap and yes breaks Cheserek.
This race is all about how well he performs with pro's as we can already see he has taken down some big names in college this year and a 1300 5k guy .

Taking down a 13:00 guy is near meaningless if the pace of the race is closer to 14:00. How many guys could out kick Ritz?

That was a completely pointless race! Did they just throw in some big names in the 5000m so people would show up in the stands? That wasn't even much of a workout for Levins. What is Alberto thinking telling one of his Olympians to practice NOT kicking and letting a freshman cruise in ahead of you in a slow time? Stupid idea, if you asked me.
