The UF runner came through on the inside and interfered with the A&M runner?

Heres the difference: IF youre the lead runner, you hug that damned curb. Like Hasay and Rowbury. In this instance if youre the trailing runner you pass on the OUTSIDE. NOW if you allow any daylight between you and the curb like the texas a and m athlete then the trailing runner can take her pick.

Unlike the Gabe/Hasay contact, you could look at that and say it was intentional (desperate/exhausted) interference. I wouldn't have called it, but it was close enough to go either way.

Spectacular race by the Gator runner. Held her form and held the A&M runner off just enough that she forced the foul and won the meet for her team.

YES, A&M's raiding of JUCO and eventual discard of athletes is to be admired. Holloway > Henry, even where Henry has more titles. Being right doesn't make you a coward. It makes you a winner.

Finally had a chance to watch the video and I agree with LW's assessment above. A&M never fully completed the pass to claim position nearest the rail. We can speculate that a combination of fatigue and the fact that she was on the banked portion of the track likely caused her to move closer to the Florida athlete halfway through the turn and contact was initiated.

Oh - and one more thing...kudos to Coach Henry for his take on the situation. Quote from the A&M website write up on the meet:

"Especially on a call like that, it’s a tough one,” A&M coach Pat Henry said. “We’ll stand up, we’ll come back another day, we’ll be ready to go. You don’t like to lose big time meets like this on a call like that, but it happens.”

Also - great job by the announcers who were very quick to fully understand the potential calls that might be made and the ramifications those scenarios would have. Anyone know who was doing the announcing?

hat if the girl running that leg was a senior? Would she have any future in running? All she has is outdoor season, then her running career is pretty much over. To ask someone to pull up , I believe would be poor coaching. You run hard and push yourself to finish hard.

Most coaches preach that. to then contradict yourself would make you look really bad as a coach.
