well why is it any time you ever see a sports team and the coach is like "you guys do this properly or we'll be doing 400 repeats" and everyones like "nooooooooooooooooo" and tries their very hardest because they dred doing running because it is far too hard for them?
"Our sport is other sports punishment"
Preseason training for many sports involves doing "the hardest training all year" as they put it..... running. I have friends who are sprinters and for one week in winter they did 4x500m, took them more than 100s per rep (and these are a 7.40 LJ, 51 400 and 15m+ TJer, not mediocre athletes by any means.
As a distance runner, a tapering session (ie. 6x200) in a sprinters world is a difficult session (they do at same speed with much more recov in base training) and i think its pretty safe to say that any track team that got a chance to do say
training for a day would think that is was far far far too easy (disregarding lack of height, strength etc...) yea a team that had to do a 10mile 'easy' run on any day would not survive (no matter how slow, many would not get close to finish).
