We got lazy, old, and ate too much. Boom next thing you know you're happy with a 20min+ 5k. At least I still make $250,000 a year, so I'm not totally outta the letsrun club.
I actually ran with my dog too. This was the first time I raced with my dog, and he is a very strong / fast pitbull mix. 100m into the race, I had my friend jump onto the course with his bike and was hanging a piece of steak for my dog to chase after so he could pull me to run faster. I ended up running 13:52 (huge PR for me), but I got DQ'ed.
Ran O'side turkey trot. Goal was to be first finisher in a turkey hat.

That did not go well.
Legs locked up like crazy and struggled to survive/move (just under 33 I think), and he just loped along to an easy victory. Nice guy though!

I've never done an official "Turkey Trot," but nikeman and his former high school cross country teammate host a race every Thanksgiving called the Rubber Chicken Relay. It is a 2 X 2 mile X 2 person relay. You and a partner each run a 2-mile loop twice and hand off a rubber chicken. It was cold, but not windy or snowing like it sometimes does there (northern Idaho). I felt pretty good despite a 6 hour drive and 4 hours of sleep beforehand. I ran about 7 minute pace, which was what I was aiming for.
One of these days I will have to come down for the Fort Worth Turkey Trot. I always wanted to do it, but there are only 2 runners in the family, so we were outnumbered by people who like to eat early.

Ran a 10 mile race in 44:58 (about 4:30/mile). I felt in control and relaxed. Weather conditions were heavy snow, 50 mph wind, and a -20 F temperature.
mid-17s 5k at altitude. Good enough for top 10

A spkied-up, 300m tear on the old High School track. Unofficially 37.8 for the win, making up for a close 2nd in last years 200m spectacle.

Tempoed it for the win and didn't feel too shabby despite running easy for two weeks. There was apparently a moose on the course but I didn't see it.
I know this is pitiful for the LRC crowd but I won my turkey trot by over a minute in 17:36. My winnings were three bottles of wine and four college basketball tickets.
I know I should look for more competitive races but the slow ones with good prizes have a strong allure.

15 degree start, with windchill factor below 0 degree Farenheit. 1,500 people enjoing just another average running day in Anchorage, Alaska.
Probably more calories were burned in this race per person than in any other Turkey Trot in the nation.
Terribly slow, but I outkicked the top woman, so there's that.

Damn Hardloper, you are SLOW. Maybe you should spend less time on the boards and more time running and you may be able to get to 15:xx faster.
