There's no such thing as "UK" and "US". Someone from Montgomery, Alabama sound nothing like someone from Boston Massachusetts, just the same as someone Glasgow sounds nothing like someone from London.

You do know that California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico were part of Mexico prior to the Mexican American war, right?
Spanish was spoken before English in a lot of places; if you think of it we should really be speaking native american languages since they predate Spanish (or French in some areas).
Nevertheless, it doesn't matter. By the third generation, hispanics don't speak much Spanish just like all the other immigrant groups that preceded them.

After reading some usatoday.com comments; I wouldn't give him that much credit.
(As for spoken English, are you comparing diction or just the inflection and the way words are pronounced?)

Studying the accents of the various James Bonds' is intriguing, I still think that Sean Connery had the best ‘James Bond’ accent and he had a Scottish twang.
And women went mad over Richard Burton’s (not a Bond) voice and he was Welsh.
Roger Moore had a more authentically upper/middle class English accent.
