From my memory of the race, the Ethiopian in 2nd did raise her hands in celebration when she crossed the line. I remember thinking that she was pretty happy with the silver

I'd like to point out that Haile Fan, your hero is old and slow. Ethiopian Girl, aka CO- Runner, you are an idiot.
Sincerely,
Your neighbor, the champion runner (by champion I mean I won a Nalgene Bottle at the West End 3K yesterday)

Congratulation on your win, I am very proud of you but stop putting down my hero. Haile might be old for track not done and he will break a marathon record and wins 2008 Olympic marathon:)

I like the idea of a lapped runner outsprinting the leader at the finish line. A good way to get on TV. Then they raise their arms in jubilation and keep going -- can anyone really believe the Ethiopian explanation?
As for the lapped runners moving out I think it can cause more confusion if they do. If everybody just agrees never to do it then the leading runners won't fear anyone pulling out in front of them. The leaders aren't running that much further. It looked like the Kenyan/Dutch runner ran in the second lane the whole race anyway.
Actually she had Tulu nicely bottled up on the inside lane behind the Chinese runner until they came to a lapped runner who moved out forcing her inside whereupon Tulu got out of the box!
I am very proud of Dibaba because I remember her three years ago as a young girl raced at the bolder boulder and finished 2nd behind Dena Dorsin with a good 2 or 3 minutes difference but look at her now she is a silver medallist at the Olympic game.
I beleive Dibaba. She made a mistake. I do not know if she had enf left to catch her or not tho...
In anycase, the Ethiopian Athletics Federation and coaching stuff made a huge mistake for not including Adere. No way she could have lost this race.
Totally agree.
Very funny. Am i the only one that noticed this joke?
Adere is fast but she would not have won this race.
The young Chinese woman was way too strong.
The reason for the chinese victory was the classic... no one knows who they are so you cannot apply tactics..
Charles Kamathi.... pure trash runner won the world champs in 27:50...
so you have to know who each oponent had .. the coaches on tethiopias team did not bother.. they just told them.. run your race. And obviously, they got caught.
Lets hope dibaba gets a rematch..
E Dibaba is a very good athlete and i think she will make a big splash...
14:23 29:48
we will see
you're the only one who thinks it was funny.
I may have had a bit of a difficult time in these Games, but thankfully I'm not that bloody f***ing stupid.
