Agree with just about everything you've said, except the 10.3 which I'm sure you'll admit is a shot in the dark at best. That said, none of this takes away from Carl breaking the rules. I love how people on this board (not you in this case) pick and choose the serious cheating cases and those that suit the guys they like. There are rules. They need to be followed. Ben broke them. Johnson may very well be right about Lewis. But his version of reality and the rest of ours often don't overlap very much.

I've heard it said that doping is a necessity for the 100m but not the 200m.

Given how there is so much favouritism in sports these days, the final quote of that clip says it all:

Carl lewis knew his spotlight was stolen for the past 3 years and he went on all these radio shows to say that there's alotta dopers going around in our sport and that has to change. He only did that to start stirring up controversy and to wake people up so in his favor bust ben Johnson, and eventually they did and not him, even though he was on some stuff too. He put ben under the bus at the olympics, while being backed up by his millions, and the u.s. to ruin Johnson. The only reason Johnson or others of his ilk even get press attention is because old farts that remember him and the others of their time will still buy the papers. Smut sells. It's like turning on the soap operas of yester-yore and still seeing the same damned people I saw when I was a kid, only a lot older. Washed up but still making waves. Same thing will be happening 20 years from now if the rules don't get stiffer.

Was Calvin Smith ever busted for drugs? I liked him a lot and just would like to believe he wasn't part of that scene but I guess I wouldn't be surprised.

There's no reason to believe that anyone at the top of the game is drug-free these days. All of you pius Jamaicans can go to HE double hockey sticks too. Ray Stewart, Burt Cameron etc... are part of your past as well. Bolt and the likes are next, it's just a matter of time before the idiots at the top of the money making game in track find a new poster child and they throw him under the bus too.

I know drugs are wrong but it's too overwhelming to worry about whether they get busted anymore. I'll enjoy the competition while it happens and let the fallout occur as it may. It's too bad the public is caught in the middle giving their time and attention not to mention their dollars for phony entertainment. The most disturbing part of all of it for me is the forfieture of medals that were awarded in public view and lost opportunities for others beyond that moment.

the lightness ,igf-1 lr3 is a brilliant enhancement to

nervous system and stress sprint training puts on it ,

why have to look at the lightness from sprint setting

not a bodybuilding setting where get mixed response .

the ironic part ,probably the cleanest year for longer distances since 70's .

chronic steroid use at time , especially with

common sense to switch to testosterone before any

big track meets where going to be tested

and keep most of gains and ,

pass all tests with flying colours .

Did you two watch ESPN's 30 for 30 9.79 documentary last year? Carl Lewis came off as a phony narcissistic fraud. According to other coaches he wouldn't show up at meets where he knew the testers would be. While Ben was dirty there is some validity to the conspiracy theory that the Lewis camp set up Johnson. After all Carl's Santa Monica Track Club friend(Andree Jackson) made it into the testing room after Ben won and was right next to him as he drank beer in order to encourage urination. Jackson's quote at the end of the documentary is chilling when asked if he spiked Ben's beer. His reply:

"Maybe I did, Maybe I didn't."

Carl's response to Johnson's allegation:

"Charge it to the game. You got played."

Why are these "explosive" comments 25 years after The Race and 17 years after Carl was done as a competitive runner?

There's no evidence. Just accusations.

Carl probably did dope, in my mind.

But Ben's comments now don't carry any weight.

I may not get braces again, but they sure didn't work and I probably need them again. Getting braces for a high profile athlete is meaningless. In many cases, they probably want good teeth for the endorsements and announcing career.

Fact #1: Carl Lewis tested positive for banned substances

Fact #2: Lasse Viren never tested positive

Fact #3: Waldemar Cierpinski never tested positive

Because Carl Lewis is American he should be considered CLEAN.

Because Viren and Cierpinski are Euros, they must be dirty.
