I do think this is rather funny considering how much of the road isn't being used. I can see this being played out in civil court for assault.
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is more important than a little plastic trophy saying I was the 2nd fastest person in my age group on that day. And I will strike down anyone (women, children, handicapped, etc) that gets between me and my cool Facebook post showing me with my AG hardware. She got off easy.
Yeah, with TriGuy suing for a damaged pinky. Allison, meanwhile, will shrugg off the whole encounter shaking her head and muttering, "Some people..."

His hand is clearly cupped, as though he were pushing her aside. I've never known anyone to "punch" a person with a cupped hand. If she turned into his path as he was sprinting home, it is entirely her fault. What did she expect him to do? You can't slam on the brakes on a split second when you're sprinting, so he either could have run her over or attempted to push her out of the way. He should have at least turned back to see if she was okay though. If not, then it really was a douche move.

Yes, sprinting in a low level, age-group tri with nothing at stake. He probably could have moved. OTOH, he runs like a dweeb. There was a time when hitting a woman/girl meant you were an f-head. These days, however, it means you're a pencil d*ck f-head.

The level of the tri and what was at stake is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is, the guy was sprinting home, she was jogging along the side and then veered into his path at the last second, and reacting he put his hand out to push her aside. He couldn't just have moved. It was either tackle her or push her out of the way. Have you ever tried to jump to your right or left in the middle of a sprint? It's nearly impossible.

Well it appears there is one thing that is more important...Pausing in the middle of a course while a race is going on so you can pose for a few pictures and wave at your kids. Human reaction time being what it is I doubt this makes it on film unless she was already posing for pictures in the middle of the course.
