how is it that Renato Canova predicted with 100% accuracy the top 3 finishers? How does he do it? I'm amazed.
i was jumping and shouting like crazy, thinking that Nick and Duane could go 1-2. My dog starts barking at me and thinks there's something wrong. good race for the US!
This isn't the first time he has raced in this style this year. I'm not sure why people think this is new. He has probably raced like this more often this year than a wait in the back and kick at 200 to go.
And it was a good tactic today -- it got him a silver in a race that he could probably not have gotten a gold in under any circumstances.
Mo Farah would have won this race.
Great run for a 660 year old dude in 3rd. I think he is the first former emperor to medal in the 800 at a world championships.
That was a great BALLS out race. Anyone critizing the way he ran needs to check themselves.
Kiprop would have won by an extra meter than Mo.

There was some moron named TrackCoach who said that's ok for someone who ran 1:42. Wrong. As I said at the time, you don't run 1 second off your PR, then recover to win 2 days later. Solomon dying was set up in the semis.

Aman deserves the win.. he worked hard this year and won race after race. He was consistent.
It you have nice to get two americans on the podium. Great accomplishment for Nick Symmonds. Silver is nothing to sneeze at.
He is a very popular american athlete and he continues to represent himself well.
But for Rudisha... Aman would be a dominant force in the 800.
too bad his win did not include the great man from kenya.
aman deserved it, so did "journeyman" nick. he'll be rethinking that one come fishing time.

solomon ran out of gas obviously, and did a johnny grey out there.....coach? are we learning yet?
if i were solomon i'd mix it up - the tactics - from race to race just to keep them guessing, rather than have the field just sit on him and design their race off him.... and i'd think about not running a near PB in the heats if i wanted to win the final. you can slow it down a bit from the front you know...

Don't know if that's required. Coach d made a good point - he ran way harder Sunday than he needed to (1:43 high).
When he's on, he can front-run a 1:43-mid which would have been medal range, he just wasn't on today presumably because of Sunday.
Aman got tactics wrong at the olympics and tried to go with the DR (David Rudisha) ... this time he showed a lot of maturity and patience and left his kick for the last 50 meters... Had Aman panicked and pushed it to the max at 150.. Symmonds you have won this race.
They should have set this up. Had Rudisha(spel?) jump out on the track. The cops holding him back, him screaming they are not the champs! "You gotta face me, I'll destroy you all wait till we meet!) "Your all done wait I"ll go sub 1:40 your all dead." Symmonds yelling back etc. A little ALI stuff. Had the announcers all playing along. "The world record holder is out on the track, he wants them all, Rudisha is infuriated.

Great scenario, dipshit.
It looked like that first 200 did kill Symmonds a little bit. That's the only time I can recall seeing him tie up at all, let alone that far out from the line. Still, you can't sneeze at a silver.
