Do guys often get better quality wives (looks-wise) if they wait until closer to age 40 to marry?

DONT MATTER CUZ THE WOMAN GONNA GET FAT EVENTUALLY. IF YOU THINK SHE'S HOT AT 25, THEN SHE PROBABLY UGLY BY 35 AGE DOES WONDERS.

I get the feeling it is just the opposite. To me, most of the posts are from guys who are attempting to rationalize and not accept they are losers OR guys who have had women dump/divorce them and are attempting to recapture their youth by dating a naive younger woman who they can dominate.

That's funny because I think most of the posts are from guys who married in their 20s and gave up on career ambitions to support a lazy wife and a few kids and are venting frustration about their lives of middle class mediocrity.

It's funny that everyone seems to have interpreted the question as "if you wait until you are forty will your wife look younger and hotter than the average wife of a guy who got married 15 years ago looked 15 years ago."

If you ask whether the average coolness/attractiveness today of women who married 28-year-olds 13 years ago is higher or lower than the average of women who married 40-year-olds last year, I think it's probably an easy win for the older guys. The older men can choose from a wider range of ages, including women who have focused on serious careers. There are also a lot of women in the pool with a little extra motivation to stay sharp and attractive. The odds get even better for men who have become more stable/secure.

I got married at 35, which I think is probably better than 40 for people who want to have kids -- but I already think the options were much better for me than they had been 10 years earlier -- for the same reasons. In the end, I feel like I had the best of both worlds: being with the kinds of women I wanted to be with in my 20s, and then marrying my favorite of them all in my mid 30s.

What is it that symbolizes that a guy is stable - in your mind?

I am a younger woman in her 20's who is dating a 41 year old. The man is sexy, experienced and distinguished as f*ck. We have intellectual conversations, go out every night, and always have a lot of fun. I do not have daddy issues nor am I considered ugly by any means. I'd say that it is fairly true given what you deem as "better quality" wives. I am always down for anything and not concerned with having kids. The level of maturity in older men is far more attractive to me. The sense of experience and the motivation as to what they have accomplished and what they want to continue to accomplish in life is another benefactor.

Also I am not married to him so I don't know if my opinion matters anyways. We have been dating for 3 years if that accounts for anything.

Study after study shows advanced parental ages (beyond 35) are more apt to poorer fetal health, lower birth weight, developmental delay, and specific diseases/disorders like autism or downs syndrome etc.

If any of you narcissists can live with the fact that you single-handedly increased the odds of birthing an unhealthy child because you were too self-absorbed chasing down some arbitrary status and career, so be it :)

By stable I was referring to men who are a bit more emotionally-balanced with age, a bit wiser, and less likely to be over-dosing on their own testosterone.

By secure, I was thinking of having a more established career and fewer worries about money.

Self-confidence could probably fall into either or both of those categories -- and may even come as a result of stability and/or security.

But yes, let's defer to the women (woman?) of Letsrun on this one.

Three years is a long time. Are you eventually going to get somewhere with him? Or maybe he'll dump you and find somebody younger.

What do you mean by get somewhere? Marriage? No not really. I am not interested in marriage. I don't even want to have any children. I guess I am not your average woman.

Worst case scenario, if he does find somebody younger, so will I.

All I know is that my wife was hot 25 years ago and is still hot as hell today. At least according to the number of second looks she gets on a daily basis. The grass is definitely NOT greener in my age group and I wouldn't be interested in younger women (20's) if I was 40 and single. I am blessed that she found it important to take care of herself, her career, our kids etc... and still has it in more ways than when we first met. As far as what any of you doofuses think.... Dude...high achievers don't have their own kids. Kids are for the middle and lower classes.

Number one, this post sounds like it was written by a man. However, even assuming it was written by a woman, you are still in your 20's and have no idea how you would feel in your 40's and the man is in his 60's. I have seen multiple relationships like this - they never work long term. Invariably the woman grows up, gets tired of the older man, and dumps him.
