Reading this thread, it sounds like the WR is probably held by a high school sprinter in the US or Japan.

No, there is not yet a b-sample.
No, we don't know what it is--maybe it's a mild stimulant.
I personally don't care. My arguments stand.
If the b-sample comes back negative, or if it is only something like methylhexaneamine, that will do nothing, absolutely nothing, to alter my belief that every single sprinter who has ever recorded a wind-legal sub-10 has been doping.
Including Gay.
In other news, it's mid-80's and humid, and I'm off to the track.
Maybe if enough guys go down, there will be a lane for me at nationals!
LMAO
No, SG, it does matter.
The information I'm seeing says that Powell tested positive for some kind of stimulant (at the Jamaican NC). If the case of Gay is similar (and I think the case of VCB is also similar), these people will miss the Moscow WC, but they won't face much of a ban. This may be close to nothing in terms of the drug involved--maybe even less being there than VCB, which apparently was in prescription medication but at least it was a masking agent.
With this coming so close to the team naming for Moscow, I'm not even sure that they're not protecting a certain individual (i.e., the powers that be want to make sure that Bolt wins).
And it's not the NCAA ranks where it starts, it's the high school ranks where it starts. There's a whole bunch of high school kids taking steroids, and I don't think they have any real testing (maybe in places like the California State Championships). The NCAA testing program is kind of a joke, because they have so many athletes and so many meets, and not nearly enough money to do a statistically significant amount of testing (I mean, if they spent money to test kids for drugs in competition they might not be able to afford to pay the football head 50 times what they pay the university president).
Stimulants are banned because they enhance performance. Period. That is why they are on the banned list.
Stimulants can be considered a marker dope, because if an athlete allows stimulants into their body, they can also have allowed anything else, including anabolics and other performance-enhancers.
Have you not wondered why recent athletes have exceed roided performances, without that massive hypertrophy? (Blake excluded) I will tell you right now that stimulants play a role.
d--
Come on, now, you're better than that.
Here is a re-post of a post I made on another thread regarding Gay:
"I really don't know.
If you look at his IAAF 100m progression, you see
2001 10.28
2002 10.27 (+0.7)
2003 no result, but I think he went 10.01
2004 10.06 (+1.7)
2005 10.08 (+0.5) ***RIETI***
2006 9.84 (+1.0)
2007 9.84 (-0.5)
2008 9.77 (+1.6), but 9.71 (
He's cruising along at around 10.3 basic, then makes a sudden .20 drop to 10.0x, but with wind--that 10.06 (+1.7) in 2004 is only a 10.14 basic.
I discount the Rieti result because, well, because it is Rieti. I assume his 2005 best to have been about the same as his 2004 best.
So from 2001-2005, he goes from around 10.30 basic to around 10.15 basic--absolutely credible, a .15 improvement over 4 years, to a time that is easily believable for an excellent clean athlete.
The problem starts in 2006, where he goes 9.90 basic in Zurich, then to 9.82 basic in Indianapolis in 2007, then to 9.75 basic in Berlin in 2009.
It took Gay 4 of his prime years to improve by about .15 to a believable 10.15, then only 3 years to improve by a further .40 to the unbelievable basic time of 9.75 and the second-fastest clocking in history.
Yeah, right.
Gay shows that same ~.50 improvement that so many sprinters have shown over the past years--I can't even tell you how many. Look in the threads, I have outed them.
I would therefore say that he started using something between 2005-2006, and that he hasn't been clean since that time.
Look at all the evidence against Gay--he associated with VCB in the past, who is now very questionable; his coach Brauman is a fraud and a liar; he claimed to run well-sub-10 while being injured; he runs 9.80 to miss out on an Olympic medal by .01, after a mere month or so of training; he runs faster than known massive dopers; he is the second- or third-fastest of all-time; he shows that characteristic ~.50 improvement in a relatively short period in what is already an essentially mature career; his training partner Mullings was convicted of doping. Etc.
The naysayers called it last year, when he miraculously ran 9.80 after a month or so of training, and good for them.
Put everything together, and he is dirty as sin, and has been since 2006, regardless of what kind of b.s. story he now tries to sell to the media and USATF/USADA.
It's super-easy for these guys to justify what they are doing, as being "for their family". Guys like Bailey and Gatlin trot out their kids at the end of races, like they're these great family guys, just trying to do the best for their families like you and me. For them, the end justifies the means.
What they don't appreciate is that this is not yet the end.
Gay: dirty since 2006"
Wake up, d. You can no longer resort to your cherished but bogus "Project Believe" as a defense for Gay.
And really, you must admit that considering the above facts, it doesn't look good for Gay's having been clean since 2006. Yes, I know that he is dedicated, and that he trains, etc., blah, blah, blah. So does everybody (except Ndure, Dix, and Lemaitre), but not everybody is at the peak of history.
This is Gay's entire life. He has nothing else. He will do what he can, and say whatever it takes, to be able to return to competition, and the sooner, the better, as far as he's concerned.
Don't sprinters typically start getting better in their early 20s? If Gay started getting better in 2006 then maybe it's because he was 23 and that's when a lot of sprinters start to show their stuff.

Carter's A and B samples from 2008 test positive.
All you a-holes, like Ilemux, James Lee, Sprintf*cker, etc. can absolutely suck on it.
You have NOTHING. Your stupidity is now on display for all to see.
And you were so sure, so full of yourselves. You're just a bunch of fanboy trash.
I can out-sprint you, out-think you, and out-last you.
And no, I NEVER forget, especially all of your a-hole accusations that I was a racist. You guys are lucky I don't know you personally.
