Ryan Hall leaves coach Renato Canova

I now want Ryan to be a washed up, has been. His only glory will be running a flukey downhill marathon with a tailwind. I will now actively sabotage his efforts. This is my first step.

All of you idiots that keep saying "downhill... tailwind...". Before that day Boston was considered a challenging course. Since then, have times beeeln fast? Every year that time goes untouched it validates the effort. Mutai ran 2:05 in New York. New York! Everyone says that course is 2 minutes slow. Did the tailwind help? Obviously, but it is not a fast course. Hall ran 2:05. Deal with it. I'm not a big fan of his, but his 2:05 is legit. And Mutai is the fasest ever based on his New York effort. Ever. G. Mutai is king! And Hall was less than 2 minutes behind him in Boston.

Didn't he coach a 4:20 1500m runner with a full-time job to a 2:17 marathon?

Hall should go to Japan and train. I think if he were to become Yuki Kawauchi's training partner, it would benefit both of them.

that's actually kinda brilliant

When an athlete jups around like this from one to another, and even going solo, it can not be the coaches. He (Ryan) is the common denominator

he had webb on rupp's heels going 1330ish at silicon valley turkey trot 5K a few years back, then webb left before track season rolled around...i would say that experiment was incomplete, not a failure on AlSal's part.

He's a great coach but if he was the only one who got it Webb would have run 3:46 again

Anyone who has run Boston knows it's a tough course, net downhill or not. It beats the crap out of your legs and those hills are tough. I don't think the tailwind accounts for the times that day. There have been other marathon days with tailwinds that weren't super fast. It's what one might call a breakthrough day. Not sure the complete reason for this breakthrough WR, but it was one in terms of time. Hall's 2:05 at Boston is a great run and should never be downplayed. Boston should be a certified record course. It's obviously tougher than Berlin, Chicago, Rotterdam and London. That world record set that day stands in my book, as does Ryan's 2:05.

I like Ryan Hall. He's genuine and true to himself. He seems like a decent man. Anyone who wishes him bad only wishes bad things for themselves.
