You don't think she would run if she could? Obviously it's serious.

You guys who are saying "suck it up and run" fail to realize that perhaps it is a debilitating injury and she cannot? If it's a stress fracture in her back or sacrum I imagine she would have a hard time supporting her weight let alone jumping off a barrier.
None of you have any idea how serious the injury is. You're children.

She doesn't want to be tested!!!,
Oh wait she is American so she is truly injured, if she was from another country then we would all say she is hiding something. Different standards for different folks.[quote]
Phil Mickelson went after some poster in Canada who claimed he was having extra marital affairs.
I can only hope that Emma Coburn finds out your identity and sues you for slander. Unless you have proof that she is doping, to accuse her of it is as classless as it gets.
For those of you who have never won an NCAA title, all of the winners are immediately tested right after their race. That means she was tested June 8th. Was fine. She is also randomly tested regularly by USADA since she is the top in her event in the US.
If she could run she would run. #1 steepler by a bunch. Not trying to dodge anything. In fact she probably has incentives to make the team.
Those who question this are absolutely ignorant.

I wonder how much this is caused by her recent switch from wearing Nike and now running in NB.
Zero, because she was hurt before lacing up a single pair of NB's.
New Balance nor Nike had anything to do with this injury.
NB is exceptionally supportive to their athletes.
At the elite level of running, injuries are part of the game.
Managing them properly is key.
Guess that explains why she didn't go for Jenny's record during the NCAAs.
For those who haven't seen it, here's her post on Facebook:
Sadly, I won't be able to compete at the 2013 USA Championships. Entering the NCAA, I had developed an injury in my lower back. After consultations with excellent doctors and my coaches, I decided to race. The two races further aggravated it and now for my safety and future, I have to stop for awhile.
Friends, family, teammates and fans of track and field who have chosen to cheer for me: the last few years wouldn't have happened without you. You guys are the greatest!
The amazing people at New Balance knew, even before they offered me a contract, that I may not be able to run the USAs. John Evans and Tom Carleo have been incredibly patient and supportive. Each called me this week encouraging me to make the right decision for my health. Thank you to everyone at New Balance for making me feel so welcomed.
The timing is heartbreaking but I know I will be back stronger and faster than ever. I am so looking forward to putting on the New Balance jersey as soon as possible.
I think that's very mature and sensible. She's just starting out on a pro career and it's not worth aggravating a serious injury to run in Moscow. She likely has many years of competition ahead and shouldn't jeopardize that.
Excellent punctuation, Emma!
Can't wait to see the fabulous outcome of Emma after a rest....look out world!!!

An injury like that, it's a hard comeback. You're never the same. Hope the best for her.
Bringing this back
