I cheer for any distance runner who might be able to make our national team that doesn't have any kind of shoe deal at all. He is also working as an assistant coach which is pretty cool too; doubt many other NCAA coaches are as fast as him during recruiting!

Jeff See was a 7 time high school state champion, a Nike outdoor mile champion, a sophomore national record holder in the mile, a a six time all american in college, and a 4 time Big 10 champion.
Is that possible without learning how to race or push???

CORY LESLIE
has a 1:48 800m and 3:56 mile indoors at age 22. that is quality.
now at 23 years of age he has a big upside, that is if in his early 20's he wasn't maxing out in training.
CORY last year was probably worth 147 and 354 at some point, which is knocking on the door to make the final in a trials for 1500m.
bringing a 147 or quicker to the steeple makes life real interesting.
if he can get the 1500 down to 335 and the 5000 down to sub 1320 then he's got a shot at an og world champs team - and take out jager if he's not on his a game.
way to go CORY!
Not sure he will be taking down Jager anytime soon in a steeple, or ever, maybe in a 1500, maybe.
But, I could see him taking down someone else to make the steeple team.
Another note: he went low 13:40's at Raliegh Relays this year also

1. That race was an "all out", honest 2 mile
2. I never said Bumbi was better than Lagat, only that he would get a spot on the team and Lagat would not
3. Unlike that 2 mile, US Champs are not "all out", they are tactical, and Bumbi will out kick Lagat off a slow pace

A steady 2 mile still requires a great deal of leg speed. Just as Lagat doesn't have the speed to break 3:32 in a 1500, no matter how it's paced...you don't run 8:09 w/o being fast. And Bumbi's not an 800/1500 guy so he's not going to make up the 4 second difference in their ability by going out a little slower. Just not gonna happen. Keep dreaming.

That 68 says a lot about his character.
Before you dismiss Ben True remember that he struggled with Lyme's Disease last year right before the trials, so those two races were not indicative of his fitness when peaking. We also have to keep Andy Wheating in mind while discussing the 1500m, because the Brojo's are right that his phenomenal natural talent will never go away. Here is my list:
800-Symmonds, Solomon, Jock
1500- Centro, Leo, Andrews/Wheating
Steeple- Jager, Cabral, Huling/Leslie
5k- Rupp, Lagat, Lomong
10k- Rupp, Ritz, True
What do you guys think of Symmonds' performance?

It was only 10 months ago that Lagat beat Bumbi by about 4 seconds in the last lap of a tactical 5k at USOTs. I do agree that Lagat has lost a step, but he hasn't fallen so far as to get beat by Bumbi.
Hasn't he been doing 1500m training with Leo?
Having run 3:36 1500m, I see this 4 flat as a good early performance for him considering he is an 800 guy.
Symmonds needs to stick to the 800, glad to see Manzano snapped out of his 5k phase, but this was not impressive for either
Heath 1st and Jeff See, teammates of Leslie, 2nd.
Manzano beaten again.
8:20 steeple in tokyo for Leslie in his first steeple of the season
That is a 10 second PR for Leslie.
Huling left for Portland and Jerry (has run under 8:15).
Is Olinger still steepling with Gary?
