The way Derrick has ran so far, no way he doesn't make the 10000 squad, especially that Solinsky is still trying to rebuild. Rupp is obvious and I'm sure Ritz will find a way to not lose to Tegenkamp.
5000 (in order):
Lomong; Lagat; Rupp (Derrick 4th)
Lomong will be timing a peak better this year as at least he is not experimenting with the 5000 this time. a year of experience helps a lot. Cannot count out Lagat and Rupp here and it looks like Derrick is the odd man out.
1500 (no order):
Centro; Manzano; ?????
Wild event here, recent years have shown Centro and Manzano don't care about anything before the trials, and given their current stranglehold of the 1500 they'll be looking at peaking for worlds. 3rd place will be a lot wilder this year, especially if Wheating doesn't step things up (or if Big Wave makes another breakthrough)
You are calling rupp for 3rd at USA champs at 5000? Did I you just wake up? He beat everyone last summer in that race and he just ran 7:30 and 3:50 indoors as a 10k man! 7:30 is a world ahead of 13:07. Rupp could run 12:55 indoors right now.

As for the spacing, it appears that for distance races the x-axis (representing time) is not continuous, otherwise the photo would be excessively long ... a close-up view presumably shows discontinuous time labels.

I agree. Rupp is the American distance king. Don't anoint anyone until they beat him.
Bumbi will need to step up. I wonder if Rupp will double again. He has never done that well in the 5000 internationally.
He has to be bummed to have been beaten so thoroughly by Derrick after his other strong races. I'm sure he wasn't shocked by Lomong, but I doubt he thought Derrick would be 12 seconds ahead and 5 ahead of his PR. It will be very difficult for him to make the World team or the next Olympics unless some guys like Derrick, Rupp, Lomong focus on other events. I think Derrick will focus on 10000 because he will likely make the team. But Lomong and Rupp have no real reason not to do the 5. Man Bumbi is close but seems to be looking at continuing in the odd man out role.
