of course Daniel is a good actor, but he really isn't in the same league as William Shatner.
DDL is awesome, but any list of great actors without Jack Nicholson on it is incomplete to say the least.
I thought "Lincoln" was a great movie about how a bill becomes a law. Although in this case it was an amendment. Nothing else. Yes it was a monumental piece of legislation. But it was still just that. I could have been just as enthralled watching a movie about how they passed the legislation that established Medicare or our modern freeway system.

Best Actor Oscar is the direct object. That's why "Best" is capitalized. It's a record, because it's the third. It's a record third Oscar. He didn't say third-best Actor Oscar, or something else that would confuse.

I finally saw this Lincoln movie of which you all speak.
I thought the movie was so/so. Spielberg is mostly a hack to me. He has a decently blocked, set and shot scene or two in each of his movies...but he is nothing special.
DDL, however, did as find of a job as conjuring up a historical figure as one can imagine. There are no voice recordings of Lincolns voice...he died 12 years before that...so a lot of research was done finding descriptions of his voice from speeches he gave, and study into the dialect of the area at the time, and earliest speech recordings of that region... DDL did a helluva job.
To me, "Last of the Mohicans" is the best cross country running movie of all-time.
