the short track argument is nonsensehere is a post from canovahttp://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=4203011&page=2
Wang Jungxia ran 3'51"9 in 1500m and 2:24 in Marathon, and 8'06" in 3000, and 29'30" with the second half in 14'26", and NEVER could run 400m faster than 55"5 (this was what Dong Li, the WCh in 1500 in 1997, now wife of the head coach of Spain Miguel Landa, explained me when we spoke about the Chinese period of Ma Juren)
the prelim lines of fit i got for her years before this post were
55.5 / 1'57.2 ->
3'50.3
5'13.5
8'03.9
13'55.0
29'07.4
or
55.5 / 1'57.3 ->
3'50.7
5'14.1
8'05.0
13'57.3
29'13.2
which are perectly in keeping with her runs if you consider the uneven pace those races were run
( the 29'31 was a joke with a jog of 15'05 followed by a 14'26 which was 11s faster than the current 5k wr & she was speeding up thruout that last 5k with a 8'17 last 3k !!! )
if it had been a short track, i wouda expected some huge discrepancy in 1 or more of those estimates compared to what she actually ran ( if you flatten out the uneven pace )
there is none
