You could make a case for most of those assessments, but I think German belongs in the "interesting" category after running 3:34 a few months ago in his first race as a pro. Certainly not washed up. He's over-rated by very few and entirely dismissed by many.

Rupp had a respiratory infection, hence him running so poorly in the final and races after. I believe he dropped out of a 1500 and scratched the 5k AR attempt. And lets be honest, he is going to break it this year.

Ritz is not washed up!! He just ran a 2:07 marathon a few months ago and that's his PR. German Fernandez is making his comeback. Cam Levins is a beast! Lagat isn't in his prime but still running great times and has a shot at the record. I can recall him capturing the indoor 5k record just last year. Lawi has hit a plateau, but I'm sure running against Lagat again will be a spark for him. I have no idea who Andrew is and Jager has no shot.

The American record holder in the steeplechase has no shot? Hurrrrrrrr. This is going to be a good race.
I agree that it will be a great race, but why every American Distance Fan's dream race? Almost half the field is international. Lagat and Lalang are Kenyan (yeah, yeah I know), and Levins is Canadian. Any distance fan will enjoy this one.
I'll take Jager or Levins for the win. One thing is for sure...Ritz will get smoked.

Well, Jager is taking on the the Indoor and Outdoor AR holder at 3000m, the indoor and outdoor AR holder 1500m, the outdoor AR holder at 5000m, AND the former AR holder in the event being contested.
Unless Lagat has lost about 5 steps in the last year or the present AR holder in this event shows up...
