You cannot compare men and women's times linearly, because the difference is exponential. The reason for this is because the top women have straighter bodies (i.e. bodies shaped more like men) that give them a bigger advantage over the rest of the women. The men have no such advantage.

I have no hate for her, she seem like a sweet and hard working athlete with a lot of natural talent. I wish her the best, for what its worth.But she should own up to having problems racing smart in packs, particularly in big races. And I think this comment she made is silly, must be a women problem and not a Morgan problem. Someone like Rowbury seems to have more instinct here and react properly.She needs to get some coaching here and training to be in these moments to react properly. The opportunity to participate in such big races are few and she has to maximize them.And yes, get up and finish the race.

Watching track over the years, I haven't noticed women falling any more than men.
Women fall more? I don't know. I've watched a lot of guys try some really stupid stuff and cause big pile-ups. More pushing on the men's side also, in my experience.
In terms of racing or running in pack on the track...it's one of the world's great mysteries to me. I've never understood why the girls I've run with just don't do it right.
In college, during workouts, the men's workout groups ran in groups ran in straight line in lane 1, took turns leading, and tried their best to hit the splits.
The women - literally EVERY year - were a complete disaster. Girls in lane 2 (three even)...same girl leading every time, first intervals wayyy too fast.
Is this true of all women's teams. Any females out there that can explain what's at play. The guys always gave the women a hard time about this...and they were always like: "Yeah, I really just wish we could run like the guys' team."

this was true of my college team. men lined up, ran single file until the last 100 when we'd fan out across the track, practicing kicking. women would bunch up and run in a pack, coach would point out to the ones stuck on the outside they were actually running a greater distance and they still refused to line up and run like the guys. we could never understand why they refused to do it. another ood thing our girls team would do is run the concrete cart paths on the golf course for easy runs. i kind of thought the nice thing about running on golf courses was the soft surface.

Whatcha talkin' 'bout Willis? How would running along the same line as the person in front of you cause you to run further? If the line is long enough you may be 10 meters back from the leader, but that's why the back guys fan out at the end and kick, giving them an opportunity to catch up while the front guys coast, as the previous poster stated. Keep reversing the order to give everyone the ability to kick and coast. This way every person runs the same distance.
I'm talking about in a real race where everyone has not agreed to continually alternate positions. If you run the whole race in say 6th place single file, then you're going to have to make up something like a 10 or 15 meter gap at some point. If you run beside the leader but in the same lane, how much does that add to the total distance? What's the difference between running in lane 1 vs lane 2? Or in this case, lane 1.5.

Why are you practicing that but not using it in a race? What's the point of practicing? Also, my same points still apply to the practice-only scenario. The person 10 meters back still has to make up the gap. Running side by side would be less distance than running single file in some cases.

You run intervals at practice to build fitness and gain toughness. You run races to practice racing.
At the higher levels of the sport, intervals are GENERALLY done in small groups, in which everyone starts in a straight line ~10m from the start. You gently accelerate into the start and take-off when the first guy hits the line. However, you don't beep your watch until you, yourself, cross the line. That way, everyone runs in lane 1, in a straight line, and you all cover the same distance and have ~the same split.

we all started on the same starting line, just like a race, and we settled into the agreed upon order, kind of like a race. everyone starts at the same line, everyone finishes at the same line, everyone covers roughly the same distance.
Could have taken any videos from WOW...pretty much everyone does their intervals like this:
