Who besides Darling has run sub-24 this year (a bunch of low-24s, maybe); Darling and Connor were both high school studs?
Tim Nelson
went from 430/10:03 in high school to 25:39 8K XC last fall as a college junior. all on my own training i've done all through college. yay club running!
Brian Erb didn't break 10 minutes in high school. He is one of the top master's runners in the country now.

Dylan Ferris would have to be up on the list. Went 3:40 in 1500 and 3:58 in Mile. Was strong 800 runner in HS. Never really ran anything over mile in college but people I have spoke to said he could run a pretty good 2 mile in a practice time trial. His senior year he could barely break 17:00 in 5k of hs.
what happened to dylan ferris???
I ran 10:14 in HS, after college ran 8:36 (8:013k)?
Dave Berdan--2004? D3 runner-up in 10k ran 30:14 at Elizabethtown. Also ran 14:31 according to their school records.
Read somewhere best was 10:48? for 3200m in high school. Heard he has woods all around his house too!
Lawi Lalang never broke 10:00 for 3200 in high school. He's pretty quick these days.
This would have to be someone who ran 10:00.01, surely?
I think Harry Groves told me that Greg Fredericks didn't break 10 minutes for 2 miles in high school.
I ran 16:59 on a short XC course. 2:02 split, 4:41 mile, and 10:25 mile XC. Never did 2 mile in track.
I have ran 14:32, 3:50, 8:25.
i ran 4'47"/10'10" in high school then ran 14'07"/29'21"
i belonged to a team that brought in many people like myself due to little recruiting power and developed them
high milage
Kyle Heffner ran 9:35 in HS before his 2:10 marathon to make the 80 Olympic team . I ran 10:10 in HS then ran 14:15 for the 5000 on the track in college back in the 70s. I also ran a 24:05 for 5 miles (8K) on a championship cross country course.

That's not all that remarkable.
What did Tim Nelson run in high school?
He did seem to be guy that came from nowhere. Smashed the Wisconsin 10k record in college that stood since 1976 and ran around 27:40 or faster after.
I can't believe he never broke 10:00 unless he never ran a 3200 in high school.
Was he a runner that qualified for Footlocker and ran sub 15 in high school cross that was always injured in the spring?
Ryan Kleimenhagen didn't even run track in high school and ran 3:59.00 in the indoor mile.

2;10 and '80 Olympic team
Huh, 80 team was Sandoval, Durden, and Kyle Heffner. Do you mean Heffner?
Pfeffer ran about 2:20 for the marathon in high school, one of the best ever.
Another candidate, Rick Robirds, Sterling, CO. 4:50 mile and nothing close to 10:00 in HS. 28:20 10K and several Baby Nationals titles at Adams State, plus high USATF placings.
Robirds ran under 9:45 at the CO state meet senior year. Still impressive improvement. Shawn Found ran 28:33 and was 4th at the Olympic Trials. I don't think he broke 10, but that's just hearsay.
