No it would go to the runner after amy hastings because although rodgers got 2nd she still did'nt meet the olympic A standard which has to be met.....
Hastings should run it. It is well after the 10,000m. If it is not going well she can drop out. Better than having Desi injure herself.

Kevin Hanson is a complete fool. Why would you possibly send something to a newspaper about one of your runners that is completely not true? You are obviously out of touch with reality.

Kevin Hanson has taken a huge blow in this situation and he deserves it. He is a coach and needs to keep his pie hole closed when it comes to anything outside of coaching.

Desi is a 2:22 runner just as Ryan Hall is a 2:04 runner. As in "is NOT".
There is not another sub 2:30 marathoner that is ready to go. Grandt ran a 2:29 on the same day and same course as Desiree ran her 2:22.
It's time to give up on this Hanson "experiment" and try something else.
Remember that Clara was 7:16 behind Desi when they ran 222 and 229 on wind aided Boston course.
At the Olympic trials Clara then ran 4:51 behind Desi with their 225 and 230 performances.
No disputing that Desi earned the spot and should she feel that there is a chance that she can run, she should run. Clara having not run under 2:30 outside of Boston is irrelevant to weather or not she is a worthy alternate. 2 Marathons on her resume, the slowest being 2:30 at the trials. The 2:30 from the trials would make it the fastest alternate time from the trials ever!
Start late, Kip the course, get the medal.
Keep in mind that the Hansons have a chain of stores to run. This coaching-agent-spokesperson deal is really just a side job.

Are you professional trained at being a dick, or is it just a serious hobby? Davila and Hall earned the right to be on the line, through years of hard work. After you finish second at trials, come back and tell us what you think.
...except that they're hardly ever in the stores. This sounds like a major communication snafu, definitely not surprising with the Hansons. I hope that if Des decides to start the race that she doesn't further injure herself. As many on here have stated hip flexor injuries can be extremely difficult to get rid of. Also--wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Desi make a big change after London. Back to CA?
This rift between Desi and Kevin doesn't even matter. Desi will be moving back to Cali to train with Amy and be closer to her family. Hansons have done a nice job with developing Desi, but she doesn't get along with Kevin
What are you on? Fastest alternate time is by Hastings (2:27) - the only alternate officially named by USATF, with Janet being the next legit one. Numbers six, seven and onwards not considered so stop dreaming, plus one is injured, another half marathon champs dnf last month, and the next one 11th in 10k at the trials - with none of them on marathon specific training for the past few months. Desi running with an injured leg is still better. Dream along...

It's the marathon unless the committee selected an alternate right after the trials and instructed that person to train as if they are going to run there is no point in having anyone other than the 3 that qualified run. It's either them or no one.
It's not like she could pull out at anytime in the last month and say "Hey, you got 5th(or 6th, or 7th) at the trials, even though you've either taken time off or shifted focus to the track you can run the marathon now."
