Gawd, the stupidity of you guys. There's always been a a white, Indian (East Indian) and Arab minority in Kenya. Jason Dunford is not a recent immigrant like Lopez, he's third or fourth generation Kenyan meaning his family has been in Kenya longer than some white American's families have been in the US.

And yes, he's done more for Kenyan swimming than anyone in our history. Kids are taking up the sport. Of the current crop of Olympians, I'd say only Rudisha and Kemboi are more popular.

Swahili, the national language of Kenya actually is a mixture of Bantu languages and Arab.

Why then are Kenyans not muslims? you might ask, Did Arabs treat Africans well? No, That explains why there we not many black Muslims in Kenya because of the insidious form of islam that was introduced. The black communities in the middle east are of East African Slave origin and even those in Turkey

The Arabs/Persians were first to occupy the Kenyan coast around the 9th century AD. They were overthrown by the Portuguese before Columbus saw America, the Arabs managed to kick them out and they, in turn were crushed by the Brits who held on until independece in 1963. Dunford is a descendant of these colonials.
