Slowing down with 600 to go.
I looooove seeing Defar lose. What a finish though.
58 last lap Defar vs Cheryiot right to the line.
Why did The Stache's links disappear?
Canada (like a lot of other smaller countries) have a standard that is tougher than the Olympic A standard. If an athlete gets this, then they are near guaranteed to go no matter how they do in their trials. So getting the A+ standard, if an athlete has a bad day at the trials, they still get nominated to the olympic team.
Embarrassing......Defar was given the flowers and thinks she won. Oops. Cherioyiut with the win and a heck of a sprint finish.

http://www.sportlemon.tv/v-4/0/140/v-414147.htmlUnfortunately, the english one I was watching froze and I could not get it to work again.
Muchas Gracias.
What if they only get the A? Is that and top-3 enough, or are there other requirements?
Click on the Men or Women link. It will tell you what each athlete has to do to get nominated. For most its just top 3. For others, they have to get the time plus top 3. Others just get nominated.
Women's 5k came down to the wire. It was almost a photo. They gave the flowers to Meseret Defar. She celebrated and started her victory lap. The only problem was Vivian Cheruiyot had just beaten her again.
This was super close with them side by side almost the whole last 100m.
100m time!!
I guess Bolt is ok. DAMN 9.76
Powell looked good in latter half of race.
collins with a great start faded to 3rd or 4th.
Lemaitre left in the dust
Bolt 9.76. Not super easy but still had a full step over Powell.
very impressive considering they were running into a slight headwind! could have been ~9.6 flat with a +2.0!
I guess I should've written Lemaitre left in dust at the start. He of course finished well for 3rd.
From the front view, Powell was all over the place - in Kim collins' lane for like 3 steps! He did not have the typical Powell start.

Lemaitre was 3rd....
Very impressive run. But this was Bolt's all-out effort. You could see the strain on his face. Now we really know where he is, considering everyone has been saying he's been giving 95% in his races this season.
9.91 for Powell into a .1 headwind in 2nd.
Great race by Bolt!
Asafa Powell just told the BBC that he didn't "hear the start" even though I thought he started ok. The only way he will beat Bolt however is to be ahead at the start.
LeMaitre had a terrible start and finished 3rd in 10.04
They are all talking about what happened in Ostrava. Well Bolt started terribly and it was cold. Here he got a good start. In Ostrava he beat Collins by .15, here he beat Collins by .29. I think the better start here was worth at least most of that .14 improvement.

I saw that! Cracked me up. Poor Asafa. He tries so hard.
