Mt SAC Entries: Webb and Ritz NOT Running Updated

Sounds like you are involved with the meet. Can you let us know why Ritz and Webb aren't running?

From my sources:

Alan wasn't feeling totally recovered from the double so they are playing it safe and staying home to train.

Ritz pushed training, see tweet about long workout, and is suffering a minor (as of now) injury.

The weather forecast is not conducive to distance running. It is going to be extremely hot on Friday and Saturday. Even for the distance classic, it is going to be about 80F at 8PM. If I was Salazar, for sure I would pull from Mt. Sac in favor of Stanford.

There are of course going to be a bunch of NCAA guys who cannot pull because they need the qualifier.

But for the pros, great sprinting weather, not great distance running weather.

Note: The Olympic Games qualifying window of May 1, 2011 to July 1, 2012 is just for US athletes. (http://www.usatf.org/events/2012/OlympicGames/entry/qualifyingStandards.asp) .

The overall IAAF Olympic Games qualifying window is one week longer, to July 8, 2012.

Oh, 80F and the sun is going down, what a travesty....guess the summer is not Rupp-certified. They'd better go piddle around doing 200s inside at the Nike office building in Portland.

Any updates on Aaron Braun? I haven't seen any results since XC nats. Injured? A year ago I thought Braun had an outside shot at the U.S. team in the 10,000.

They will definitely be prepared for the Olympics and WCs, where the weather is never ever hot.

Stupid post. The difference with the Olympics is that it's the freaking Olympics, there isn't an option. Whereas if the weather isn't optimal and they aren't feeling great now, they have Stanford next week and other opportunities. No reason to push it if it's just gonna be a draining race.

The tweet also said he was looking forward to Mt. Sac...and the injury is a concern. When does Ritz ever have a minor injury?

He was in the BAA 5k results this past weekend.

Why all the Web talk? He will be an also ran. His time has passed. Or was never here perhaps.

Ritz is definitely out, Webb is still on the official timing sheets. He could be a late scratch but timing still has him in the meet.

I said 13:33 earlier and I am sticking to it. That 28:21 was one rusty run.

To all you Ritz predictors who are saying he can't break 13:40. LOL at you. He closed his last facking 5k in 13:45 2 weeks ago.

That I didn't know. If true, he could have obviously run 13:30 or better if healthy. Of course, he is not healthy. We saw what this guy could do when he was healthy for one year in 2009.

I like the idea of Webb regrouping for a few weeks. Then go for a solid sub-3:40/3:55 kind of time. Maybe he can come close right now in the right race. Never any way of knowing with him.

I think Rtiz is one of the most over rated distance runners of all time. Barely ever shows up when it matters and seems to dodge races if less than ideal circumstances.
