Rarely, but when I do it is one of the following reasons:
1. Out of shape and need it to help motivate during the first week getting back into it.
2. Really crappy weather.

I used to run with Music until he left town a coupla years ago. His last name was McKenzie or something like that
I always run with music if I'm alone. I think it allows me to train faster and not get bored. I don't race with it unless I'm expecting to be completely alone. I am also not an asshat that judges people because of whether they run with music.
I run much faster with my iPod unconsciously to the point of my coach banning me from music for awhile because I was going too fast on my longer runs
As for me, I'm used to listen to music whden running. The best App for me is Spotify, now we can play Spotify music on Apple watch with Spotify music converter for Mac. Before transferring Spotify music to Apple watch, we can use this tool to download and convert Spotify to MP3 with zero loss quality. It depends. Somethimes with music, when I have something that bothers me it helps not to think, and clear my head. And somethimes I want to hear the nature, or city, I run without music.
By the way, do you have a special playlist for running, or you just listen to songs you like?
If MUSIC JAMS are yur thing, go for it ..... JUST RUN BABY
Never. I'm not sure what that is to with a Garmin watch or fitness tracker.
Not since my very first attempts to start running (on a treadmill) because I needed some type of adrenaline rush to keep moving beyond 5 minutes or so. I've only played music on a run once in the last 4 years now
very rarely. Mostly because its a pain to carry phone, putting in pocket messes up my hips, and i dont have wireless headphones. Although i think no music lets me focus on my goals and such
I never listen to music when running trails. And I rarely listen to anything otherwise so that I can focus on form and how I feel. Sometimes I listen to podcasts. I will say that having a smart watch and wireless headphones make running and listening to something much less cumbersome.
Yes. Music makes me more rhythmic. I use my Twellmall to control the music.
Rarely listen to music on runs, but almost always listen to podcasts on solo long runs. If I am throwing a tempo in the long run I will switch to some music on for that. Definitely prefer podcasts over music if it comes to running at an easy pace.
I ran casually with music for several years, but it was always more of a hard cardio session for me than true dedicated running — I’d go out and run 3-4 miles in zone 4 a few times a week, with Daft Punk etc pumping me up the whole time, and come home just wrecked. When I got back into running more mileage with a training plan in mind about a year ago, I had a hard time keeping my wireless earbuds charged and then my favorite armband for my phone started to fall apart and it was annoying to wear anyway and one day I said “the hell with this, I don’t need music to run.” It was a weird flip-of-the-switch moment that I’m glad I had, because now I love running with no music or anything to distract me from what I’m doing. No need to add another stimulus to my runs. I also used to frantically skip songs and adjust volume etc to dial in the mood, but without that musical input the mood is whatever it’s supposed to be given how I’m feeling, the weather, etc.
Another big factor for me - I run most of my miles on fairly narrow dirt roads with some blind curves/hills, and since the roads are so crowned with rough/uneven edges, I have to run in the middle whenever I can. Absolutely necessary to have my ears available to hear vehicles behind me. I didn’t realize how dumb/downright unsafe it was to run with earbuds in that environment until I stopped. I might run with music again from time to time if I’m on a pedestrian-only trail with good footing, or if I’m warming up for a race on a closed course, and DEFINITELY would want music for most treadmill sessions (don’t currently own/have access to one) but for the most part it’s just me, my thoughts, and the run itself. Feels better in ways that are hard to describe.
I don't.
I listen to podcasts/audiobooks all the time on easy runs - trying to run 70 mile weeks along the same roads without them would get pretty boring pretty quickly!
Sometimes I listen to music for faster workouts too - for some reason I find it easier to dig deeper when I'm listening to a song I like. Everyone's different I guess!
Bro I make my own music and sing john mayor songs whilst running. The chicks dig it some bros do to
