what's more important in your mind? speed and success or women?

confidence is overrated. People say this to make us skinny
not-so-attractive guys feel better about ourselves.
But it is true that female runners are less focused on it
than average Jane.
Train for the 800 and you can have it all.
Another convert. Was the whole distance runner package - naturally skinny, thin frame, only 5'7" tall. Decided I wasn't fast enough for it to be worthwhile. Dropped almost all running, lifted, ate, protein. Gained a little under 20 pounds. Made a massive difference with the girls, moreso than I expected as I thought height may still be an issue. Aside from the muscle I think even my face looks better - less drained and emaciated.
I think it depends on body type. The Solinsky type doesn't increase in attractiveness much by getting bigger and slower. Your typical thin-framed distance runner does.
Looks is overrated. Women are more into "inner values".

BS. Women can be just as shallow, if not more shallow, than most men.
I have to say my newly thin build doesn't turn heads. Girls no longer look me in the eye when I walk by them. This was not the case a year ago when I was 170 lbs.
The only people who stare at me now are other runners, who sense that I might be really fast based on my appearance.
Am I happier now? I would have to say yes. I feel like I am accomplishing SOMETHING when I'm running or when I do well in a race, as opposed to not being a runner and just looking for something to do with my time. I am never bored now.
