How about how seriously fast the Pacific Athletic Conference is going to be instead of talking about theories that have yet to happen and aren't really that great of teams to begin with. Colorado, Stanford and Oregon all in the same conference! These three programs are top 5 distance programs. Competing against each other more often is gonna make it that much faster.

Do you know college sports or business at all. Big Ten and the SEC are by far the two most superior conferences in the world today. Big 12 is all but gone. The SEC and Big Ten make the most money because of their networks and following. The ACC is a basketball conference and make significantly less money than either of these conferences packages with networks as well as having their own.

UM probably has (must have) better market share for tv football than Okie St. or Kansas or Kansas St. or any other Big XII team other than Texas, Oklahoma, or TAMU do. Not sure why the SEC isn't going harder for OU and has its sights set on MU, instead. Maybe the SEC presidents want decent tv market share but only for a weak sister program that won't come in and upset the applecart of power (Bama, Florida, LSU, Auburn, Arkansas) that currently exists. I'd love to see Oklahoma added to the SEC or Big 10, though. Imagine Nebraska-Oklahoma or Arkansas-Oklahoma on Thanksgiving weekend.

6 Super Conferences now on the table. Each has 16 teams and a play-off spot in an 8-team playoff.
Texas can just play with themselves.
Texas and Oklahoma to the Pac 16, along with Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. In addition to increased football intrigue, Pac 16 track and xc just got a whole lot more interesting. Across the board, this conference will rival the SEC, regardless of who the latter might add outside of TAMU.

And OU just became my favorite team apart from CU. I see less "intrigue," not more. Texas should've just gone independent and left the Big 12. Nebraska and OU were the real true rivals throughout football history anyway. The old Southwest conference could reconstitute itself. UT's brashness rivals that of the state it represents.
Any updates? Rumors are heating up that #14 is either Missouri or West Virginia.
I hope in the end Tx finds itself on the outside looking in. It's time to get in a conference (with other real teams), play in a playoff game, and then playoff the conference champs.
Stop hiding or relying on beating nothing schools yet wanting to be in the National Title game.

while a xc superconference of ok st oregon stanford and colorado would be awesome, if pac-16 is a thing that happens it won't be as much fun for the other sports. they'd likely go to an east and west division set up with the west being the original pac-8 schools and the east being the big 12 converts, utah, and arizona schools.
So all the talk is these superconferences are going to secede from the NCAA to form their own football division with national championship playoffs, etc. This raises some really interesting questions for non-revenue sports and the schools that don't make the jump to the superleague.
What does that mean for the other sports besides football and maybe basketball in this new 64 team league? If the football programs removed themselves from the NCAA, will the other sports in these athletic departments still be governed by the NCAA or will they also fall under whatever this new division is called? What are title 9 ramifications for an athletic department if football removes itself from the ncaa? Will the schools left behind abandon football since they are essentially relegated to an obsolete division of athletics?
Very interesting stuff coming down the road and I don't think it is necessarily good for track/xc teams.

I wonder the same thing. Lots of Track & XC folks bash fball (jealousy), but for many schools that's the breadwinner and the sport that allows you (us) to have XC and Track.
I think it would be very very easy to split off basketball and fball into a profitable business run by the schools and eliminate the title ix provisions. You simply pay the players like any minor league. So the players are employees, not "student athletes" I'd think that No scholarships= no title ix.

Texas is the catalyst for this entire mess. They should've gone independent. Or, the state could form their own conference with all the teams they have and revenue share. Whatever the case, we'd better have a playoff system implemented now.
The PAC 12 will be the first conference with 16
Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma Sate will all go.
Texas A&M only makes sense if the SEC is planning on adding another 3 teams.
The ACC sucks as a football conference and will suck more if FSU leaves. If they do, Clemson and VTech would be the next two most attractive schools.
Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State are done.
