London Riots - It is really kicking off all over

What are the advantages of a baseball bat over a cricket bat? Would only a toff buy a cricket bat for self defence?

Civil distubances and uprisings are spreading from Tunisia, Iraq, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Israel, Syria, and now the biggest murdering backward country, the UK. Ordinary people hate terrorist regimes. Power to the future owners of the UK !

Official youth unemployment in England is way beyond 20%, if you include the kids who count as being in full time employment (So count as employed in the stats) but want work between college/university it's probably pushing 50% if not higher. So there is a huge lack of paid employment for youths in britain right now.That obviously leads to more spare time and less money, leading to boredom and frustration. So to a lot of kids this is something to do.Another motive is your typical bleeding heart liberal anti-consumerist bollocks - but to be fair there's a lot of truth in it. All the big brands are very very prevalent in youth culture. importantly these things are a LOT more expensive in England, generally speaking you pay less dollars than pounds for the same good despite pounds being the more valuable currency. Some of these kids will see this as a means to keep up with fashion and their friends.Oh and justification. Young black men will be constantly "random" searched by the police, despite being a minority of the population they will be a local majority and a majority in schools too. There is a very obvious divide in society and its very much "us against them". They can see the affluence lots of white middle and upper class people have YET they have no reasonable means of getting it - the black schools are awful and most companies won't take on black kids. They will most probably feel exploited by the upper and middle classes, this will just feel like evening the score the only way they know how.

As a Brit who recently went on holiday to America I think its fair to say we are much less socially conditioned than most Americans.

Absolutely this. I'd say a solid 98% of rioters will have been born in the country, although possibly a large proportion of second generation immigrants.

Put frankly immigrants have the perspective to realise this country is a damn sight better than most. Plus their parents will have more control over them.

poverty being marginalized with no prospect of ever holding a job? Drug problems?

I am just asking because it seems riots like this seem to be

much more frequent in societies where wealth is distributed unevenly.

Have they arrested the cops who murdered the innocent fellow. That would help quell nerves.

Cricket bats are generally used in a vertical plane and unwieldy unless you want to hit someone in the bollocks.

So do the English prefer baseball bats because they think hitting someone in the bollocks would be unsporting? Are blows to the bollocks more of a Scottish thing?
