Meh, it took him over four years to get his citizenship, and Kenya wouldnt clear him to race for the U.S. (because we didnt throw money at them like Qatar did to clear the path) So his choices were to run for Kenya, or to not run. Would you honestly give up dreams of Olympic Gold for national pride?
Remember, Kip has lived in the country since the mid 1990s, he didn't come here as some sort of money chasing warrior like the Qatar kenyans, he didn't come here to make the team because he couldnt make the Kenyan team. He came here because he loves this country. He is more like Wilson Kipketer than Saif Saaeed Shaheen.

Nike didn't pay for anything. Lagat applied for and received citizenship through the normal procedures.

Kenya wouldn't clear him?? Kenya didn't know....he illegitimately ran in the Olympics for Kenya. He was not a citizen of Kenya at the time he ran in his last games for them. He was American at that point, and only American.
As for his drug test. Most signs point towards guilty. There has been question as to whether if you delay your b-test that it'll come out negative...like Lagat and Marion Jones both did, and we know Marion was really guilty despite her negative b sample. I have little faith that he's innocent (although i admit there's always a possibility), but i still enjoy watching him run, and i like the competition he brings to the other guys here in the US.
Lagat could be Canadian tomorrow, because of his spouse. But he chose to be a US citizen, and jump through all the hoops.
If he violated Kenyan laws (which do not allow dual citizenship), that doesn't really have anything to do with US laws, does it.
My bet is he becomes Canadian when he retires. If the amount of criticism he gets on this board is a representative sample, then its time to admit his mistake and leave.

I didn't suggest it did, did I?
I didn't say he ran for the US without citizenship, i said he ran for Kenya without being a citizen and without telling them he was no longer a citizen. Not sure how your commment is relevant to what i said?
